Mission Statement

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees, and the public.

Summary

The primary responsibility of the Program Director, Supply Chain - Resiliency and Sustainability is to develop and implement strategies to predict, prevent, and recover from supply chain disruptions while also driving sustainability initiatives across our operations. Serves as a subject matter expert on supply chain resiliency and sustainability, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external partners. Works with sourcing teams to integrate supply chain resiliency and sustainability considerations into the sourcing and procurement process. Plays a key role in facilitating cross-functional collaboration to develop contingency plans, alternative sourcing options, and inventory management protocols. Drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of equipment reprocessing and reuse programs. Routinely engages in proactive discussions with suppliers, primary healthcare group purchasing organization, key stakeholders, and peer institutions to gather business intelligence that will assist in making more informed business continuity decisions. Requires a strong understanding of supply chain principles, risk management methodologies, and clinical reprocessing and sustainment.

Key Functions

1. Develop and implement strategies to enhance supply chain resiliency, ensuring continuity of critical supplies and services during disruptions such as pandemics, natural disasters, and geopolitical challenges.

2. Conduct risk assessments and scenario planning to identify vulnerabilities, potential disruptions, and areas for improvement. Analyze historical data and industry trends to anticipate and mitigate potential risks, ensuring business continuity and minimizing impact on patient care and research.

3. Evaluate current equipment reprocessing and reuse practices to identify areas for improvement and expansion.

4. Leverage data analytics and technology such as supplier mapping, event monitoring, and risk prevention software to enhance visibility and intelligence across multiple tiers of the supplier base.

5. Develop dashboards and metrics that demonstrate supply chain resiliency readiness.

6. Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate the financial viability of reprocessed equipment compared to new purchases, conducting cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies.

7. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, regulations, and best practices related to supply chain resilience and sustainability, incorporating relevant insights into our operations.

8. Proactively cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure transparency, communication, and collaboration. Evaluates supplier risk profiles, performance metrics, and adherence to regulatory standards to help mitigate supply disruptions.

9. Conduct supplier business continuity plan audits to validate supplier readiness during emergent events.

10. As required, serve as primary point of contact for supply chain during disruptions, coordinating response efforts and providing regular updates to leadership.

11. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Single-Use Device (SUD) reprocessing program, including both collections and buy-backs.

12. Socialize the SUD reprocessing program throughout the health system and network with other health systems to incorporate best practices.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Finance, Operations or other related field.

Required Experience:

Seven years of project management experience in business, healthcare, or related field.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Supply Chain experience with an emphasis on planning, predicting, developing strategies. Knowledge of sourcing / contracting, procurement and experience working with and negotiating with suppliers. Performance improvement quality experience, familiar with LEAN, Six-Sigma, project management, value analysis.
