Position Summary
Under general administrative direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation, and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of the Mary Greeley Medical Center. Director understands, supports, communicates and promotes Mary Greeley initiatives. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care and a respectful work environment.
Position Responsibilities
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Leadership Responsibilities – Provides direct leadership and management to the following functional human resource areas: talent acquisition, workforce performance management, employee relations and investigations, human resource information systems, data management and integrity, system/data analysis to produce actionable insights for decision making, occupational health and workforce safety, payroll administration, benefits & compensation administration, and workforce planning to meet workforce capacity and capability requirements.
Organizational Leadership Collaboration – Consults and collaborates with MG leaders on workforce planning and labor strategies that support effective management of workforce productivity, FTEs, and labor costs. Consults with leaders regarding human resource initiatives; policy clarification and consistency; and talent acquisition strategies. Collaborates with Executive Director – Talent, L&D and Workforce Experience leaders to provide comprehensive workforce strategies that support of Mary Greeley Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic plan.
Human Resource Information Systems – Provide oversight and guidance to information systems that support organizational operations and effectiveness. Includes ensuring data entry accuracy, system functionality in place to support leaders and employees in daily operations, data mining/tools that produce actionable insights to support informed business decisions.
Compliance and Policy Management – Oversee operations to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for a public, independent hospital. Ensure audit processes in plan to regularly audit records and data for compliance. Ensures policies are reviewed at least every three years and revised as needed to remain compliance with laws and regulations as well as organizational objectives and programs.
Talent Acquisition – Collaborates with organizational leaders and HR team to identify staffing and recruiting needs; develops and execute best practices for hiring and talent sourcing.
Payroll Management – Guide the payroll function to ensure accurate and timely payments to the workforce, accurate and timely tax and benefit remittance, and accurate and timely compliance with all IRS requirements.
Workforce Safety and Preventable Harm – Provide oversight to the occupational health team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage, investigate and reduce workforce injuries and exposures.
Benefits and Compensation Program Design & Administration – Oversees the administration of human resource compensation and benefit programs to ensure accuracy, consistency. Ensures programs support the attraction and retention of the workforce. Guides the development of communications to ensure leaders and workforce understand these plans and the value they offer.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resouces, Healthcare Administration, a clinical discipline or a related field.
3 – 5 years experience in Human Resource leadership role
Organizational Requirements:
Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Health Care or Business Administration or related field.
PHR or SPHR Certification
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or CHHR Certification
5 or more years’ experience in hospital/healthcare industry
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Skill in effective oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to manage one’s time effectively.
Advanced analytical skills necessary to a) develop budgets, policies and procedures, b) develop performance standards; c) develop and monitor record-keeping systems; d) analyze and resolve complex human resource problems; e) prepare and present educational programs; f) develop and administer a coordinated budget.
