Job Description


All Martha's Table employees, interns, subcontractors, and volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (which includes boosters) or have an approved exemption to undergo weekly testing. This includes staff members who are working remotely, hybrid, or in person. This requirement applies to all new hires starting on or after September 27, 2021. To be in compliance, new hires should have received their both shots of either Pfizer or Moderna, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson, along with a booster shot, and provide their proof of vaccination card to Human Resources prior to their start date.

This position reports directly to the Senior Accountant and is responsible for supporting the financial infrastructure and systems needed to support Martha’s Table’s growth in accordance with its Strategic Planning Goals.  The Staff Accountant II will work with the Senior Accountant and Chief Financial Officer to manage effective financial and administrative systems. 


  • Responsible for ongoing oversight to grants management operations, ensuring the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions on grants and restricted funds
  • Prepares monthly internal and external grant and restricted funds reports
  • Prepares journal entries and schedules (i.e prepaids, fixed assets, temporary restricted schedule, etc) to assist with month end closing 
  • Completes bank and account reconciliations
  • Assist with other finance duties, as assigned


  • Strong commitment to Martha’s Table’s mission and a clear sense of the critical role the Staff Accountant II plays in advancing that mission
  • Demonstrated commitment to Martha’s Table’s core values of compassion, respect, teamwork, and accountability 
  • Two to three years of related accounting experience, such as general ledger and grants management, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • Demonstrated experience in computerized accounting software, i.e. Blackbaud Financial Edge; and Microsoft
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments


  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
