The law offices of Marshall Dennehey, a leading defense firm, is seeking an Application Specialist (not a Developer position) for its Philadelphia, PA office.

Position Summary:

The Applications Specialist is pivotal to the ownership, maintenance, and support of our enterprise applications tailored for the legal industry. These applications are indispensable for our attorneys and administrative staff. This hands-on role requires someone with a blend of technical acumen, curiosity, proactive problem-solving and superior communication skills. Engaging with attorneys, administrative personnel, IT colleagues, Project Managers, and vendors, the ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, swiftly learning and adapting to the unique intricacies of our applications and practice groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide reliable support for enterprise applications, ensuring timely resolutions to technical queries and challenges.
  • Proactively monitor applications to detect and rectify issues, keeping stakeholders informed throughout.
  • Collaborate with Business Users, IT Teams, and Management to achieve effective communication and problem solving.
  • Log and manage issues with external vendors or the support team.
  • Engage in process enhancement initiatives and relevant projects.
  • Ensure any issue is either resolved promptly or escalated appropriately for further action.
  • Contribute to the lifecycle of applications, including design, testing, documentation, and upgrades.
  • Employ a business-centric approach, combined with Agile methodology, to create comprehensive documentation, articulating complex requirements in a straightforward manner for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Undertake additional projects or duties as assigned.
  • Travel to other offices may be required to support large IT firm wide projects.
  • This is a hybrid (remote work and in-office) position.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated capability to configure, design, and modify applications as per evolving requirements.
  • Proven ability to modify and adjust Windows to facilitate application needs and performance while ensuring system stability and security. This includes, but is not limited to Windows Registry, System Explorer, File Explorer, Startup Management, Windows Essentials, and Windows Security.
  • Innovative and collaborative mindset.
  • Capacity to foresee business implications of technical adaptations and their impact on users.
  • Familiarity in preparing applications for deployment across diverse systems and platforms.
  • Competence in interpreting application logs and the event viewer to proactively identify and rectify potential issues.
  • Autonomous work ethic with minimal supervision.
  • Agility to multitask and prioritize in a high-paced setting.
  • In-depth comprehension of software programs across varied business functions.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and optimize installed systems.
  • Proven ability to manage small to medium projects and contribute to software testing endeavors.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Adeptness in leveraging PowerShell for task automation and augmenting application capabilities.
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and rectifying driver-related challenges that can affect application functionality.
  • Microsoft certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
  • Familiarity with applications used in the legal field.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
