Mariposa Center For Safety is Hiring a Part-Time Bookkeeper/Billing Specialist Near Pueblo, CO

Description
The Mariposa Center for Bookkeeper/Billing Specialist works closely with the Executive Director. Good communication skills are imperative for the success of the organization. The Bookkeeper/Billing Specialist is expected to follow the leadership and direction of the Executive Director.
Specific accounting/bookkeeping responsibilities:
  • Manage day to day accounting and bookkeeping processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliation in accordance to GAAP and Mariposa Center for Safety protocol
  • Prepare Journal Entries for prepaid expense, deferred revenue and payroll cash accounts
  • Process and pay all invoices in a timely manner
  • Receive and deposit all organizational revenue
  • Perform annual 1099 reporting process for vendors
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including standard financial reports, budget vs. actual reports and grant-specific financial reports
  • Manage time tracking process for expenses billable to grants
  • Coordinate with Executive Director and Auditors in preparation of year-end audit and IRS 990/State CT-12 filings
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director develop an analysis of annual organization budget
  • Support Executive Director and Program Directors in developing grant proposal budgets
  • Maintain accounting procedures and policies and systems of internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financial systems
  • Perform non-routine tasks requiring strong judgment and initiative
  • Participate in Mariposa Center for Safety strategic planning, staff meetings, program evaluation and board meetings as directed
  • Demonstrate high level of professionalism, integrity and ethics
  • Able to function well in a stressful environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc., and Quickbooks
  • Able to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner
  • Must be a team player, must be able to follow directives and work well with the Executive Director
Requirements

Physical requirements include the following:
•Requires standing, sitting, driving, and walking for prolonged periods of time
•Requires working under stress in emergency situations
•Requires occasional driving in adverse weather conditions
•Requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and mouse
•Requires knowledge of computers and database systems

Working Conditions:
•Some remote work possible
•Must be willing to be in the office no fewer than 10 hours per week
•Hours of in office work are flexible
Minimum Qualifications:
•2 years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or similar area
•Strong QuickBooks skills, including all normal accounting transactions, GL management, budgeting, and reporting
•Computer proficiency with strong Excel skills
•Experience going through a financial audit
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment
•Attention to detail, strong communication, and problem solving
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field
•Experience working in nonprofit multi-fund accounting, including experience tracking and reporting financial data for multiple grant funders, preferably with federal grants
Salary and Benefits:
•Salary is part-time, $20/hour for a maximum of 25 hours per week
•Benefits not included in this part-time position
