Position Summary:

The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Operations Manager in planning, overseeing, and participating in the operations and activities of the warehouse department. The Warehouse Team Lead trains, directs work and sets work activities for assigned personnel to ensure that deliveries and shipments out of the warehouse are handled efficiently and correctly while meeting daily and/or weekly priorities. The Warehouse Team Lead must work out of the warehouse and be on the warehouse floor assisting in filling and shipping orders.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Determines work procedures, prepare work schedules, expedite workflow, and issues with written/oral directions.
• Assigns duties and examines subordinates work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures, while ensuring the current policies and procedures continue to improve the efficiency of workers.
• Identifies employees’ skills and develops them by coaching on a regular basis and provides continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
• Confers with managers outside of the distribution center to ensure coordination of other functions such as inventory management and customer engagement regarding the coordination of other warehouse activities.
• Manages all outbound and inbound shipments, including preparation of sequentially numbered paperwork in software accounting system, management of packaging materials inventories, packaging of product to be shipped, and arrangement of transportation services.
• Inspects deliveries to ensure that correct product and quantity have been received and have not been damaged. Assesses inbound shipments and routes to appropriate recipient.
• Maintains warehouse cleanliness by sweeping floors, organizing stock, and making sure that there is minimal trash outside of garbage bins. Eliminates clutter in aisles to assure safety. Follow established safety guidelines to comply with MIOSHA safety standards.
• Ensures orders are pulled correctly and promptly.
• Communicates with customer service and outside sales regarding shipping problems and inventory discrepancies.
• Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
• Operates handcarts and lift-trucks to receive and organize purchase orders and supply shipments.
• Manages and monitors Inventory Aging. We must exercise a first in first out (FIFO) process.
• Supports inventory control process by assisting with cycle counts and accounting for misplaced products or materials.
• Understands and adheres to vendor requirements for incorrect shipments.
• Manages cycle counting inventory and ensures physical inventory counts are performed.
• Manages training for warehouse personnel, including but not limited to, IT hardware and software usage to 3rd party use, safety procedures for the warehouse, forklift certification and recertification as required by OSHA, and company rules and regulations.
• Directly manages Shipping and Receiving post and order validation.
• Accesses and manages security of building by performing security checks of and opening and closing facilities daily. Ensures these functions are performed by key personnel when absent.
• In the event of an absence or on heavy shipping days this position assumes responsibility of ensuring the picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving duties are completed and managed.
• Replenish shipping materials and other warehouse materials necessary for the operation of the warehouse.
• Report PO Issues/Receipts to Supply Chain Manager.
• Fills in gaps for Order Processing & Shipping Specialists in daily warehouse tasks as needed.
• Reports to Warehouse Operations Manager to identify KPIs, action plans, standard operating procedures and arranges own work. Uses a wide range of procedures to accomplish assigned objectives.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

• Support other departments with projects as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Competencies and Skills: Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions both verbal and written, organizational skills, technical capacity, thoroughness, attention to detail, time management.
• Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses.
• Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
• Forklift Certification:Forklift certification required, or the ability to become certified within 90 days of employment.
