Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach is currently seeking a Banquet Manager! The Banquet Manager will oversee banquet operations for all events including weddings, meetings, parties, internal events (such as Mother’s Day and Easter brunch) and everything in between. Event sizes range from 3-500 people and from casual to formal. The Banquet Manager will report directly to the Senior Events Manager and will be an integral part of the Events team.

Please Note: This is a very hands-on role at an independent hotel. You will be doing everything from leading the banquets team in full buyout events to acting as a meeting concierge for small meeting events. This is a perfect opportunity for a banquet supervisor wanting to take the leap to management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO...

• Run banquet operations for private events (weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, meetings, etc) from start to finish, ensuring all opening and closing procedures are followed
• Oversee administrative aspects of the banquets department including ordering, inventory, organization of supplies, budgeting/P&L, uniforms, scheduling, staff management, etc
• Assist with servicing events as needed
• Be an amazing leader to the Banquets team and perform all leadership functions such as hiring, training, coach & counseling, motivating & inspiring, etc…
• Act as liaison to our wonderful clients, ensuring their expectations are exceeded every step of the way
• Ensure proper quantities and timing for tray pass/stations/plated meals and desserts
• Ensure cleanliness of event area and oversee all team members during events
• Conduct pre-shifts before each event
• Be aware of event details from floor to ceiling including lighting, music, temperature, entrance and exit

THIS JOB IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE...

• 3-5 years of banquet supervisory or equivalent experience at a high end property (hotels preferred)
• The ability to work nights, holidays and weekends (open availability)
• A strong cashiering background
• Magical communication, organization and time management skills
• Impeccable self-awareness: you are calm under pressure and make those around you feel calm as well
• A dynamic energy: when you’re on the floor, everyone can tell you’re in charge and they want to follow your lead
• A love for fun: people feel good around you!
• A positive attitude and the desire and ability to provide genuine hospitality to your guests and teammates
• A strong wedding background
• Strong eye for detail and sense of urgency
