Malouf Companies is looking for a Packaging Engineer to develop and maintain packaging specifications for our consumer good products. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of packaging standards across various distribution channels. This position will require an understanding of packaging efficacy, while balancing considerations such as cost and sustainability.

This is a full-time position. General schedule is 8am-5pm Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Collaborate with cross-functional product and manufacturing teams to define structural packaging specifications while balancing design, protection, cost, and sustainability
• Review existing packaging catalog for cost-saving or structural improvement opportunities
• Implement and support our packaging testing process to meet various customer and distribution channel needs
• Designate and approve external packaging suppliers as needed
• Monitor packaging damage reports to assess trends and advise on potential corrective actions
• Review product inspection reports and inventory for compliance with packaging standards
• Establish internal packaging testing standards

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• 3 years of packaging experience is required with experience in home furnishing products preferred
• Familiarity with packaging compliance and testing standards (ASTM, ISTA, etc.)
• Experience dealing with 3^rd party manufacturing partners and testing facilities
• Ability to organize and process large amounts of information
• Must be proficient in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Potential travel up to 10% of the time
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook
