Major League Baseball is Hiring a Timing Operations Administrator (Seasonal) Near New York, NY

The Timing Operations Administrator position is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to assist with the implementation and oversight of the Pitch Clock for Major League Baseball.

In this position, the Timing Operations Administrator will assist with daily monitoring of the Pitch Clock, track key data points such as Pitch Clock violations and perform other administrative duties related to the Pitch Clock.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside the Timing Operations Manager to ensure accurate operation of the Pitch Clock during Major League games
  • Communicate with umpires and Field Timing Coordinators ("FTC") to ensure consistent and accurate operation of the clock
  • Assist in training sessions with FTCs, and other on-field personnel during the offseason and Spring Training
  • Responsible for tracking Pitch Clock violations and sending out "live" communications alerting Baseball Ops staff of violations and other pertinent Pitch Clock related events
  • Create postgame Pitch Clock reports to be distributed internally within the Commissioner's Office, Umpires and FTCs
  • Collaborate with departments across the Commissioner's Office to provide support for day-to-day operations and relevant projects
  • Other projects as assigned by the On-Field Operations department

Requirements:

  • Must be extremely detail oriented
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, multitask, and prioritize responsibilities
  • Must be able to handle live, fast-paced, and high-pressure situations
  • Must be able to act professionally with and around MLB Umpires and MLBOC employees
  • Strong knowledge of MLB rules, Pitch Clock Regulations and baseball specific language
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint Word and Outlook

Nice-to-Have Skills (Not required):

  • Previous experience working in baseball
  • The ability to identify MLB players and managers
  • Experience with SQL, R or Python

Schedule:

  • Candidate can work 32 – 40 hours a week
  • Schedule flexibility (weekends / evening availability required)

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is an hourly rate of $25-$27. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
