COMPENSATION RANGE: $65,705 - $92,668 per year

POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Manager works as a member of the MadTree Brewing Production Team and is accountable for all aspects of the Maintenance Program and Systems including all Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Maintenance Budget, Production Equipment, and Production Relevant Utility Systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for and actively participates in preventative maintenance (PM) program on all production relevant building utility systems including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire safety, HVAC and their related components; Coordinates with other departments as needed to complete work necessary and as impacted.
  • Accountable for the consistent monitoring and maintenance of all brewery systems including brewhouse and cellar equipment, canning and bottling lines, keg washers and fillers, pumps, motors, chillers, boilers, gas lines, air compressors, equipment controls, malt delivery, etc.
  • Responds to equipment emergencies to resolve issues independently, through the team, or utilizing external vendors and partners to ensure brewery process flow experiences minimal unplanned downtime.
  • Schedules and prioritizes preventative maintenance (PM) repair programs on all applicable equipment in coordination with Production team leaders to minimize downtime.
  • Accountable for the management of the brewery’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including work order assignments, parts inventories and usage, work order completion, communication of work completed, and accuracy of all other relevant maintenance data contained within.
  • Responsible for accurate and organized record keeping of all mechanical design, equipment schematics, building drawings, etc.; Maintains foundational knowledge of all the above.
  • Identifies repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of outside contractors or vendors; technical documentation of changes to equipment, systems, records; participates in estimates and evaluations of project costs; monitors work of vendors or contractors while on site to ensure quality of work, adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Reports regularly on equipment and/or project status updates with the Production Management Team including Head Brewer, Production Manager, Food Safety & Quality Manager, and Director of Brewing Operations.
  • Participates in production relevant capital project planning process including advising on equipment vendor selection, equipment design, project costs, and scheduling in order to optimize efficiency, and ensure ability of maintenance department to sustain functional support of new equipment and systems.
  • Assists in managing the installation and commissioning of new equipment in collaboration with the Director of Brewing Operations and applicable Production team leaders; Ensures that all new equipment, critical spare parts, and future PM schedules are accurately input into our Maintenance Software.
  • Collaboration with Director of Brewing Operations on annual departmental budget, including personnel needs, and capex planning.
  • Management & leadership of Maintenance Technician team; Responsible for coaching & leadership development of staff through setting clear expectations, goals and creating engaged employees.
  • Accountability for Maintenance Team members, including developing measures against department SOPs, process, and other KPIs.
  • Aides in training of less experienced Production team members in maintenance troubleshooting and assistance in minor repairs.
  • Stewardship in Sustainability, with a keen eye towards opportunities for improvements in process which can support MadTree’s purpose and impact goals.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned, including independent quality-related projects, cross-training initiatives, and/or interdepartmental teams for research, innovation, or troubleshooting.
  • Enthusiastically spends a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives as well as leading the team with that same enthusiasm.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • 5 years of related experience in manufacturing/production setting within the maintenance Field.
  • High School diploma required, Associates Degree or Certified/Technical Training Certification for industrial maintenance or another related field preferred.
  • Brewery and/or food processing experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience in managing an industrial maintenance department with a Preventive/Predictive approach.

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Attention to detail, ability to work with limited technical supervision while maintaining safety and quality standards, and confidence to speak up and act when safety and quality are compromised.
  • Comfort with multitasking and maintaining efficiency and productivity.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with a limited amount of direction; ability to work both independently and within a team to accomplish goals.
  • Positive “can-do” attitude and sense of urgency in performing job duties.
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Google and/or Microsoft Office applications; project management tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
