Professional Development Coordinator
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
OFFICE LOCATION: The home office location will be based on the office nearest to the candidate’s residency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions for this position are detailed below and include education, experience and physical requirements.
1. Primarily responsible for providing expertise in the area of professional development and education including creation of training materials for all levels of staff in the Agency. Prepares virtual training and in-person Training in new or existing platforms and tracks completion. Works diligently with managers and staff to ensure compliance for all regulatory bodies. Prepares reports and assesses outcomes related to training.
2. Works independently and consistently exercises discretion and sound judgment in implementing, tracking and evaluating trainings that provide for the educational enhancement of skills and licensing requirements and increase an awareness and understanding of agency policies and procedure for employees of Lutheran Child and Family Services at agency locations throughout Illinois. May travel to various agency locations and work evenings and weekends on occasion.
3.Participates and leads the development, preparation and results of the organization’s All Staff Event.
4. Responsible for developing and sustaining partnerships including universities and community colleges in the assigned regional areas in order to identify potential candidates for LCFS positions and internships. Develops plans for engagement and retention with Human Resources and prepares quarterly reports on outcomes.
5. Engages new employees in regional area at point of hire, provides on-boarding in a timely and welcoming manner. Consistently and at regular intervals meets virtually and in-person with new employees as a group and individually to train as well as to ascertain their abilities and skill development in the position.
6. Coordinates, promotes and facilitates New Employee Orientations. May support the Regional Director in the regularly scheduled meetings by providing training and development. Coordinates with HR and other staff to conduct wellness activities and employee support activities as needed.
7. Coordinates with Human Resources on internships available regionally and identifies placement opportunities in order to develop potential employees for new positions. Coordinates internship orientations and develops interns for success in their positions.
8. Develops outcomes for skill development and engagement and prepares reports demonstrating the impact of the regional on-boarding process at regular intervals throughout the employee’s first year in the position. Reviews key performance indicators and evaluates success.
9. Coordinates and prepares relevant documentation for the Council on Accreditation (COA) or DCFS Agency license renewal.
10. Collaborates with Human Resources Director on organizational surveys to assess employee engagement on regular intervals.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree in Human Services field with 2 years’ experience in virtual Training and in person training.
Driver License Required
In depth knowledge of Child Welfare policies and procedure required.
PHYSICAL AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Objects include a computer and keyboard, calculator, typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may work in and/or visit Agency offices throughout Illinois and must be able to transport him/herself to these sites. The employee is required to have a valid driver’s license and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
The work environment characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to moderate.
