Professional Development and Legal Recruiting Manager – Chicago

Summary:

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has an opening for a Professional Development and Recruiting Manager to be based in our Chicago office. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,200 lawyers located in 14 offices in six countries. 

Working with the Legal Personnel team, the Manager provides strategic direction and administrative support to the partners in Willkie’s Chicago office. The position reports to the Director of Legal Personnel and Recruiting, Midwest and works closely with the Legal Personnel team across the US. The manager will supervise a legal personnel professional based in the Chicago office.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with our other US offices,
    • Manage campus recruiting efforts including:
      • law school outreach,
      • on-campus interviews, callbacks, follow-up and;
      • the Chicago summer program.
    • Manage Professional Development Programs including:
      • initiating and developing programming for Chicago associates;
      • supporting firm management and operating committees on the associate retention programs and the performance management process;
      • managing and maintaining personnel data firm wide and for the Chicago attorneys;
      • monitoring local market and staying informed with current market trends and;
      • tracking and confirming attorney compliance with Illinois Bar admission rules
    • Collaborate with Senior Lateral Recruiting Manager on Chicago-specific searches and;
      • managing on-boarding and integration of newly hired associates. 
    • Collaborate with the Diversity & Inclusion Committee on Chicago office D&I initiatives
    • Contribute to an array of other programs as requested. 
    • Assist with HR Staff personnel matters and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Four or more years’ experience in professional services organization. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge of legal recruiting, associate development and/or human resources practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who has the ability to work both independently and also collaboratively with the Talent Management team and firm leadership.
  • Ability to provide leadership and support for detailed and complex projects.
  • Flexibility in the midst of multiple and/or changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Integrity - strong professional and ethical standards; must observe confidentiality of personnel and Firm matters.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, MS Office Suite and familiarity with Asana, viRecruit or a similar recruiting database.

ADA Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
  • Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 25 lbs.

Employment Status:

  • Exempt

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and location.

Willkie requires personnel in Chicago office be vaccinated against COVID-19, and if eligible, have received one booster shot, in order to access the Chicago offices, attend Firm events in Chicago or meet in person with other Firm personnel and/or clients in Chicago. This position will require physical presence in Willkie’s Chicago on a weekly basis.
