LPA Inc. is Hiring an Electrical Project Engineer Near Irvine, CA

LPA is seeking a passionate Electrical Project Engineer to join our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and master planners. As a member of our electrical engineering team, you will work on a broad range of projects from office, education and recreation buildings to complex laboratories, health care facilities, and performing arts centers. You will join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team, and you will impact projects at each stage of design. What you will do:

  • Prepare complete drawings for schematic design, design development and construction documents in collaboration with other team members, architects, clients and consultants.
  • Lead the electrical design effort and coordination with other disciplines to determine their needs for equipment power and lighting for all items throughout the building or project scope.
  • Participate in multiple project types, size and complexity.
  • Provide electrical design solutions based on engineering judgement and information provided by other team members, clients and consultants and compare alternative schemes for electrical distribution based on cost, efficiency, space requirements and other criteria.
  • Coordinate design of electrical service with utility companies, landscape architects and civil engineers as required.
  • Provide feasibility reports for existing facilities and electrical systems, including load analysis, capacity, and requirements for electrical loads.
  • Assist with construction administration including punch lists, RFIs and submittal reviews.
  • Understand special systems including photovoltaics, emergency power systems, battery storage systems and have a basic understanding of low voltage and fire alarm systems.
  • Have a good understanding of the electrical code and energy code layout, common sections used in design and where to locate relevant tables and requirements.
  • Mentor team members and provide training in the design of electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and apply regulatory guidelines and requirements with all other major design disciplines to gain understanding of the impacts on non-electrical systems and create fully coordinated drawing sets.
  • Ability to design layouts for electrical equipment for both indoor and outdoor locations.
  • Have a basic understanding of how to value engineer a project as needed, to reduce costs if requested by the client or owner.
  • Have a good understanding of how to use tools for design, including AutoCAD, REVIT and other software applicable to projects under design.

Electrical Designer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 4-10 years of experience in electrical engineering and the design of building power and lighting systems
  • Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Exposure to AutoCAD and Revit preferred
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the multidisciplinary design process and team environment
  • Curious and open minded to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $170,000 and is eligible for an annual bonus. If you are hired at LPA, your base salary is based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience and/or project complexity.
