Los Alamos Public Schools is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Los Alamos High School Posting 113 Near Los Alamos, NM

Perform a variety of administrative duties supporting the site-based operation of the school or department. Assist with projects, does filing, under supervision assist with school or department budget, keeps accurate records and logs, may be required to help with site or department inventory, ordering and collection of payments made at the school site or department. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of administrative, clerical and accounting duties supporting the school or department
  • Under supervision support the appropriate budget for the school site or department
  • Maintain accurate records, files and logs as requested at the school site or department
  • Respond to and assist with questions from the public in relation to the school site or department
  • Prepare requisitions and work orders as needed
  • Maintain a working and proficient knowledge of applicable Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) software programs
  • Operate within applicable state laws and New Mexico Department of Public Education rules and regulations as well as LAPS School Board policies and regulations
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct reports


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Three Years (3) administrative or secretarial experience is preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from community, regulatory agencies, or members of staff

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplication and division
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematical skills

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to gather information as directed

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Involves responding to changing technology
  • Requires involves working with interruptions, handling multiple tasks, organizing and prioritizing work assignments
  • Requires maintaining confidentiality in handling student and school district information
  • Meeting deadlines
  • Requires flexibility, learning quickly and adapting to change
  • Involves determining the educational impact of individual student health concerns and communicating with the appropriate agencies and personnel
  • Involves the need for extreme accuracy and attention to detail
  • Involves reading and interpreting policies and procedures
  • Involves receiving work direction from more than one person
