QUALIFICATIONS
• Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a School Psychology authorization and Master’s Degree required (by July 22, 2024)
  • Commitment to Los Alamitos Unified School District’s mission, vision and goals
  • Successful experience in the field of education preferred
  • Strong experience and expertise in conducting functional behavioral assessment and development of behavior intervention plans
  • Ability to administer and interpret a variety of standardized tests designed to assess cognitive development, social-emotional,
adaptive functioning, pre-academic and academic achievement levels, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead decision-making in special education eligibility, program placement and recommendations based on psycho-
educational assessment
  • Passion for working with all children; ability to motivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic and personal
success
  • A results-oriented, goal-driven, collaborative approach to work
  • Commitment to serve and support students and families
  • Outstanding skills in problem-solving, critical-thinking, innovation and creativity
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage/work closely with a wide range of
stakeholders
  • Ability to learn laws, rules, policies, practices and procedures related to public education, Section 504, IDEA and specific to the
Los Alamitos Unified School District
  • Ability to efficiently interpret, manage and utilize multiple sets of data in order to best support student progress
  • Ability to be flexible and revise priorities in accordance with requirements of the Superintendent/designee
  • Ability to communicate with students, teachers, parents on student issues of an academic/behavioral nature

ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES
• Assess and develop educational and behavioral programs for students with behavior and/or learning needs to facilitate individual

growth, development, and academic success
  • Provides comprehensive school psychological services at a variety of levels from preschool through adults; conduct psycho-
educational assessment, collaborative consultation, educationally related counseling, and professional development
  • Consults with teachers, administrators and other professional personnel in developing student educational and behavior
intervention plans which will maximize learning and behavioral results
  • Represents the District at SELPA, County, individual education program (IEP), and other related meetings, as needed
  • Provide leadership and direction to special education teachers and staff, and the general education team
  • Lead the development and maintenance of student success team (SST) process to pro-actively intervene with students
experiencing learning and behavioral barriers to success
  • Direct parent-teacher-pupil guidance and educationally related counseling activities
  • Work effectively with site and district administrators, site faculty, students and parents
  • Member of the District’s management team
  • 199 work days; possible itinerant assignment

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Placement on Management Salary Schedule: $114,677–141,278 (199 days per year; flexible work day and work year)
