QUALIFICATIONS
• Appropriate Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate with Autism and English Learner authorization) required
(credential must be completed by August 12, 2024)

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of
stakeholders
- Ability to learn laws, policies, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to the Los Alamitos
Unified School District
- Successful classroom teaching experience with a passion for working with students
- Ability to assist teachers and parents in planning and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Well-grounded in learning theory and fundamentals of positive behavioral interventions and supports
- Ability to work with students individually and in small or large groups
- Ability to be flexible and revise priorities in accordance with requirements of the Superintendent/designee
ASSIGNMENT
- Provide specialized academic instruction to students with an individualized educational program (IEP); students with
mild/moderate qualifying conditions
- Provide direct instruction in assigned academic areas to enable students to access curriculum and benefit from their instruction
- Provide consultation, resource information and material regarding individuals with exceptional needs to parents and to regular
staff members
- Collaborate and co-teach with general education teachers
- Assess and observe student progress on a regular basis, revise IEPs as appropriate
- Serve as the case carrier for students and lead all aspects of IEP development
- Provide leadership and direction to instructional aides
- Serve as member of the site’s special education leadership team
- Work collaboratively with SELPA and other stakeholders
- Attend staff development as required and participate in providing staff development for general education staff
- Willingness to work and provide Extended School Year programs as needed
SALARY AND BENEFITS
• Placement on Certificated Salary Schedule with starting salary between $74,293 (Step 1) - $113,158 (Step 10);
maximum outside years accepted nine; up to two years credit for Substitute Teaching experience
