Loco Pez, Fishtown's popular taqueria and bar, is hiring an experienced Sous Chef to join our management team. We are looking for highly qualified, goal-driven individuals who share in our passion for simple, delicious, approachable Tex-Mex cuisine. The position consists primarily of evening shifts. Applicants must have full weekend availability. Experience in high volume brunch cooking is a plus.

The Sous Chef is responsible for working with the cooks on the kitchen line, maintaining consistency and overall staff supervision. Additionally, the Sous Chef will be called on to assist the Executive Chef in supervising prep, ordering, receiving, kitchen sanitation and cleanliness.

The Sous Chef is also responsible for the training of employees in connection with purchasing, receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook and expediter.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Possess strong organizational and decision-making skills.
• Work well in fast-paced setting.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Spanish speaking is a plus
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Serve Safe certification suggested.
• Must be able to work Sundays.

The Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef.
