SUMMARY: The Product Manager for the Packaging segment will be responsible for monitoring and influencing all aspects of the flexible and Luxury Packaging product lines including raw material specifications, supply chain, manufacturing, pricing, distribution, customer, and application support. The scope of this position also includes new product development, market management, and new business development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Planning and Management
- determine product specifications
- physical properties
- packaging
- define the long term strategy for product offering
- develop pricing strategies and product families
- monitor supply chain, identify and vet partner suppliers
- coordinate and prioritize new product development
- maintain product line metrics: monthly margins, mix, NPD pipeline, etc
Customer and Sales Support
- identify and recommend products for customer solutions
- coordinate product costing and pricing
- support products and application of products at customers
- use customer feedback to drive product refinements and ongoing development
- develop sales tools and sales training material
- support sales and marketing with the necessary product knowledge and technical expertise
- coordinate and conduct product, market, and application training
- drive ongoing improvement in sales revenue and profitability
Product Marketing
- work with sales to develop product marketing plan
- liaise with marketing communications group to promote product
- provide input for marketing collateral development
- conduct product presentations
- sales calls with account managers
- trade shows or conferences
- white papers
- supply sales with latest research and market information
Research and Analysis
- research and analyze market conditions
- identify key competitor and market trends
- articulate market requirements and opportunities
- identify opportunities for product innovation and product enhancements
- work with process engineering regarding product development
- work with operations to define future manufacturing needs
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:The ideal candidate will have experience in the manufacture or support of manufacture of paper-based flexible packaging or carton board products. Experience in converting or support of converting operations would be appreciated. Experience in managing pricing, product margins, and product line profitability would be preferred.
In addition, the candidate:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
Experience and working knowledge of Oracle ERP is preferred.
Experience and working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM software is preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.
5 years of experience in manufacturing or technical support of paper based packaging converting .
3 years of experience with customer facing responsibilities (Sales, Technical Support, Product Management, Product Development. Etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The candidate must pass a company pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to commencing work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may spend time in the plant for sustained periods of time. There is occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- The employee will be required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- 20% - 40% travel required via air or driving to support all LLFlex plants and customer’s operations.
