We are looking for a kind, patient and energetic assistant teacher for toddlers at Learning Minds Montessori. Position is full-time. The Assistant Teacher will assist toddlers individually and in groups in their learning process, tend to their physical needs while in care, and help maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children present. Ideal candidates are lively, dynamic, and have a genuine love for children.

Assistant Teacher Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Actively supervising children and assisting them through the activities of their daily routine
• Helping the lead teacher develop and implement lesson plans
• Kindly and effectively mediating conflict between young children
• Engaging the group through daily transitions (i.e. reading to the group while a teacher sets up a lesson, singing with the children while helping them line up to go outside, etc)
• Assisting Lead Teachers in carrying out art and science activities with the children as needed
• Helping teachers maintain the classroom safe and clean according to DCF standards
• Communicating cordially and professionally with parents when receiving and dismissing children
• Tending to children’s physical and emotional needs throughout the day (diapering, feeding, providing comfort, managing conflict, etc)
• Staying current with all DCF In-Service training requirements
• Helping update and maintain daily classroom paperwork (attendance lists, outdoor inspection logs, medicine authorization forms, etc)

Skills and qualifications:

• Previous child care experience preferred but not required
• Complete mandatory DCF child care training (preferred) or availability to complete training within allotted time frame. Starting salary of $14.00 if mandatory DCF training is complete.
• Pediatric CPR certification (preferred) or availability to obtain certification within allotted time frame
• Valid USA work permit
