CSM’s Creative Department is hiring an Art Director (AD) to add to our NYC-based team of communicators, storytellers, and problem-solvers. We’re a fast-paced, energetic group who love inspiring people and inspiring action. We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about connecting consumers to culture through our top-tier clients in sports, technology, media, and beauty. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: You are a visual storyteller and well-rounded designer with an interest in solving client briefs through design solutions. You have strong conceptual ideation. You have experience in art direction for brand experiences and events, a background in graphic, industrial, motion or UX/UI design. You love thinking as much as making, crave teaching as well as listening and you are excited about being part of a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities: Ideate innovative solutions for meeting client goals in compelling ways Collaborate with a team to assess strategy and design for the client's brand experience Be a leader and a thinker but also very hands-on, our AD’s are involved in all phases of a project, work autonomously and carry the creative product from beginning to completion Lead a process of planning, production, and design (including conception, proposal creation, idea visualization, budget planning, vendor selection, production, vendor oversight, installation as needed) Collaborate with a team of creative designers & strategists, architects and production artists and working closely with other CSM teams (business development, accounts, partnerships, PR/communications and digital) as appropriate Research materials, technology, venues, décor, and all other elements related to an activation Collaborate with 3D artists/architects, digital product teams, and/or motion designers Coordinate with vendors and account teams to complete the job in a timely and cost-effective manner Oversee installations on site as needed, ability to travel for projects THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED: 3-5 years professional experience Strong and rapid visual communication skills (whether hand sketching, mock-ups, 2D renders) Advanced use of Adobe creative suite and presentation software including Google Slides and Keynote Dominance of environmental graphics including design and print production High level presentation skills – both internally to win consensus and externally with clients Strong comfort level researching mediums in which you may never have worked (video, interactive technology, social media, emerging technologies, etc.) to be able to effectively direct them in the execution of your ideas Innate desire and ability to always be ahead of the curve and aware of the next big thing Strong, ego-less leadership skills Nice-to-haves: Experience with AutoCAD or SketchUp Experience with FIGMA, AdobeXD or other product prototyping software. Experience in conceptual content development and video editing A knack for interactive technologies and/or scenography and stage design Experience working in, or with an agency is a plus Based in NYC is preferred, but not required We value skills, aesthetic, and collaborative personality equally.
