Merit is hiring for a Junior Art Director to bring creative innovation and excellence to brand initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for participating in art direction and design for brand initiatives and campaigns, and assist in editorial, typography and layout. 

We are looking for someone who can partner with the creative team and understand the brand and brand esthetics in order to deliver strong conceptual ideas and carry through to seamless design execution. The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup is a must.

Responsibilities:

• Bring creative innovation and excellence to brand initiatives inclusive of art direction and design for brand and campaign, including an eye for editorial, typography and layout
• Assist Art Director in concepting and idea development for campaigns 
• Assist Art Director in maintaining, developing and pushing brand standards
• Collaborate with Art Director on pre-production 
• Organize swipe for mood and styling boards
• Assist with shot list creation
• Collaborate cross functionally to ensure all marketing needs are captured
• Collaborate with Art Director on all post production: 
• Mark up images to send to retouching vendor
• Review image proofs with retouching to ensure all imagery is up to our standards
• Conduct quality control to deliver the highest quality deliverables
• Work closely with Production to ensure assets are delivered on time
• Assist production in maintaining asset management
• Create decks for go to market campaign launches, internal pitches, creative concepts etc.
• Support in content creation for smaller brand moments for CRM and social 
• Support in creator decks and briefs as necessary
• Support in graphic design and video editing work as necessary 

Qualifications:

• • BA or BFA (preferred)
  • A portfolio demonstrating previous work in design and art direction
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and G-Suite
  • Working knowledge of production including post-production for stills and video
  • Excellent type/design skills and conceptual design skills
  • An interest in Art Direction, pre-through-post-production planning and design
  • An understanding of current fashion, beauty, and design trends, as well has archival references
  • Self-directed and collaborative; an ability to work both independently and in teams effectively 
  • Team player; the ability to take in feedback and work together to achieve goals
  • Comfortable in a fast, start-up environment
  • A desire to learn, with an innate curiosity for brand building

We are proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to salary compensation. The annual salary range for this role is $90,000-100,000 in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more. The final salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the individual's experience and qualifications.
