Layla is a newly opened neighborhood bar and restaurant located in South Williamsburg. After a strong first 6 months where we have immersed ourselves amongst the Williamsburg community, we are excited to begin our search for a Head Chef. The Head Chef will lead a small team of motivated individuals, while having creative freedom on our small, seasonal European inspired menu. We believe this is a fantastic role for an individual who is motivated and is looking to have a lasting impact on the restaurant, as well as the community it is a part of. 
The essential duties are

• Production and cooking 
• Taste and review products on a daily basis 
• Developing, implementing and maintaining new recipes, presentations and products
• Conduct training and supervision of all back of house staff
• Ensure all food ordering is maintained to a level that meets demand
• Ensure food cost is below budget
• Maintain a back of house labor cost is below budget
• Ensure all back of house systems are DOH compliant
• Identify and communicate suggestions to ownership to improve the operation of the business
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment 

Job qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role at a neighborhood bar/restaurant
• Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Organized and detail oriented
• Maintain a healthy and enjoyable work culture
• Able to handle multiple tasks
• Works well under pressure and time constraints
• Available to work 50 hours per week and on weekends

Benefits

• Annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000
• 2 weeks PTO
• $5,000 - $10,000 annual bonuses that will be paid quarterly
