The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley advances the rights of historically excluded individuals and families across Santa Clara County through legal services, strategic advocacy, and educational outreach. We serve over 10,000 individuals and families each year through our Housing Program, Children & Youth Program, and Health Program. Our attorneys, social workers, and advocates use legal advocacy as a tool for social change by crafting inventive solutions to the legal issues facing low-income people in our region.

With a staff of 90 employees, we are the largest provider of free legal services in the South Bay region of the Bay Area. Our work is collaborative and meaningful and includes plenty of opportunities for professional growth. As a staff, we actively engage in discussions about race, equity, and inclusion, and are actively working towards a Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)-centered legal services practice that incorporates community and movement lawyering. 

What You'll Do

The Contract Manager is a rigorous and results-oriented leader with strong relational skills who will lead and manage government sources of funding for all agency programs. This role works closely with senior leadership and will design and implement a strategy to support the Law Foundation’s programs through appropriate public funding and generating new government funding streams. The Manager will serve as the organizational point person for all government contracts, representing the Law Foundation and leveraging engagement of Directing Attorneys, the Chief Program Officer, and Chief Executive Officer as is necessary and effective.

This role is responsible for identifying, securing, enhancing, and managing all governmental sources of funding, ensuring that the Law Foundation submits complete proposals in alignment with organization-wide priorities and goals. The Manager will partner with department leaders, including development, to meet the Law Foundation’s overall funding goals.

This leader reports to the Chief Program Officer and works closely with the Finance and Program teams. This role serves as a governmental relationships resource throughout the organization. This position requires someone whose passion for the Law Foundation’s vision is matched with strong relational and organizational skills, successful programmatic experience, and a proven track record of securing government contracts.

Requirements

Primary Duties

  • Manage all government/public contracts by serving as the primary internal and external point person for all funding contracts. Lead the government RFP process from start to finish, collaborating with program directors, as needed.
  • Partner with internal Program, Finance, and Evaluation teams to ensure timely and accurate program reports and financial invoices.
  • Attend external funding related meetings, as necessary, for each government grant source.
  • Serve as lead with government and public leaders to build effective relationships that foster recognition and utilization of Law Foundation services. 
  • Represent the organization at RFP orientations and conferences, as required by governmental partners.
  • Proactively address any outcome shortcomings with agency directors in order to build strategies for outcome achievement and facilitate effective relationships with funders.
  • Create and maintain filing system for all contract and award letters, managing information in centralized and accessible locations.
  • In partnership with the Chief Program Officer and Director of Impact Evaluation, monitor existing contracts to ensure successful implementation and outcomes-based reporting.
  • Perform other related activities as needed.

Who You Are

  • Deep commitment to and passion for the vision and mission of the Law Foundation
  • Five or more years of experience in contracts and/or grants administration
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills
  • Experience responding to RFPs and managing proposal/reporting processes
  • Proven project management experience
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to become the in-house expert on contract management systems and databases
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Detail oriented self-starter with the ability to excel under pressure and meet external deadlines
  • Experience with budget development and management
  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas into compelling narratives
  • Passionate about social justice, race equity, and providing assistance to underserved populations
  • Able to work independently and effectively as a part of a team
  • Knowledge of state and local governance structures, trends, and priorities

What We Offer

The annual base salary for this role will be competitive and commensurate with successful candidate skills and experiences. The starting salary range for this role will begin at $85,000 with generous benefits, including:
