Title: Patient Service Phlebotomist

Shift: 3am-11;30 am, Monday-Friday

Compensation: $18/hour Sign on bonus and shift differential

Summary:

Collects and processes laboratory specimens and performs associated clerical functions pertaining to patient, client, and billing functions at our client location in Milwaukee, WI.

Responsibilities:

* Performs phlebotomy services utilizing customer services standards, including AIDET. Follows proper collection and specimen labeling procedures and AABB standards regarding patient identification; consistently obtains blood specimens by venipuncture, capillary draws, heel sticks, glucose tolerance testing, and/or blood cultures as described in the Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories’ Phlebotomy Policy & Procedures.

* Following specimen collection, processes the specimen as appropriate by ensuring accurate labeling, following special handling requirements such as correct number of tubes, temperature constraints, etc. and spinning down or aliquot ting the specimen as indicated in the test directory.

* Accurately and efficiently completes laboratory requisition forms and other forms by obtaining correct patient demographics, insurance information, diagnosis information, advanced beneficiary notification (ABN), and clarifying ambiguous physician orders.

* Ensures patient confidentiality throughout the process; logs, sorts, and distributes laboratory reports to the appropriate client/clinic.

Other information/Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or GED.

2. Completion of phlebotomy course, including clinicals, or 6 months experience with phlebotomy being a regular daily responsibility, including a minimum of 100 draws. ASCP or ACA Certification Preferred.

3. Windows-based computer skills and also skilled in clerical functions such as telephones, e-mails, pagers, running copy and fax machines.

4. Valid Driver's License (for off-site locations only).

5. Demonstrated complex problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
