L.I.F.E Inc., is looking for an enthusiastic, detailed oriented, self-motivated Accountant to join our team! Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the accountant is responsible for the day to day accounting functions of the organization. The accountant is responsible for completing all accounting and bookkeeping tasks as assigned, with assistance from the CFO when appropriate.

Accountant Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Process invoices from vendors for payment - entering information into computer system, prepare checks, have checks signed, and file invoices. Interact with vendors to resolve billing problems.
• Maintain computer account receivable files for client accounts - record social security benefits, record miscellaneous expense, record room and board amounts, and initiate allowance payments to clients (prepare checks for payment). Monthly (or quarterly) summarize activity of client savings accounts for management review. Review client's Banking & Budgeting and file same. Report any discrepancies to CFO for follow-up. Complete representative payee forms.
• Process biweekly payroll - submit by computer to ADP Payroll service, review reports and submit with checks for approval and signature. Make necessary entries into the general ledger.
• Accumulate and summarize client days to prepare billing to state agency. Review with management for submitting to state. And after receiving funding, review the state's calculations and make necessary adjustments.
• Maintain inventory of fixed assets, and assist in conducting periodic inventory, and reconcile to general ledger. Maintain related accounting files as needed.
• Respond to specific requests from management - history of vendor payments, special reports or analysis, etc. Monitor and analyze cash flow requirements and make recommendations to management based on anticipated requirements.
• Maintains accounting books

Accountant Core Competencies:

• Attention to Detail: Ability to review and identify inconsistencies in large amounts of data or information and to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Critical Thinking: Ability to evaluate financial reports, apply accounting practices to new information and identify solutions to financial problems such as non-payments, overages or balancing a budget within ethical standards of practice.
• Problem-Solving: Identifying transactional errors that may cause accounts to be out of balance and resolving bank reconciliation errors.
• Data Analysis: Data analysis allows accountants to create informational financial reports based on financial data such as account budgets, revenue and expenses.

Education/Qualifications:

• An associate degree in accounting or an accounting concentration as part of a related degree
• Experience using accounting software
• Also, experience with related spreadsheet and word processing programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications.
