Technical Writer

Who We Are

Kudu Dynamics is a 100% employee-owned company, forged out of a decade of experience in computer network operations and staffed with talent who have built, overseen, and enhanced capabilities throughout the entire USG arsenal. Our team of hackers and engineers have experience spanning centuries of research, development, and operations missions - across desktop, mobile, IoT, and embedded platforms. Kudu Dynamics is uniquely qualified to anticipate tomorrow’s threats and build the next generation of capabilities.

Job Description

Kudu Dynamics is looking for a creative and motivated Technical Writer to join our project. In this role, you will be responsible for translating dense technical content from engineering teams to suit the needs of diverse audiences: other technical performers, end users, and organization leadership. In addition to your responsibilities as a core member of the Data Analytics team, you will also collaborate with Kudu’s proposal team, creating engaging, professional, and compliant responses to government solicitations.

As a member of the Data Analytics team, you’ll be helping build an advanced, end-to-end data analytics pipeline with a tiered architecture that harnesses cutting-edge machine learning insights from raw data. The solution distills complex data into valuable knowledge, which is presented in a user-friendly Angular-based interface that includes interactive visualizations and customizable reports. With advanced security features and scalability options, our product empowers businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, make data-driven decisions, and drive mission success.

Responsibilities:

  • Team up with Kudites from across the engineering and shared resource divisions to create deliverables of all sizes and complexities. The technical writer will collaborate with, and potentially provide feedback to, team members throughout the company – from hackers and PIs to our contracting and finance personnel.
  • Be ready to share your enthusiasm and experience with stakeholders throughout the organization. Stay up-to-date on the latest industry standards, best practices, and trends in technical writing – and be ready to communicate them to the rest of the team.
  • Transform technical jargon and complex concepts into easy-to-understand language. Communicate an entire story through a single visualization.
  • Create and maintain documentation like user guides, installation guides, release notes, and technical reports.
  • Apply your creativity to create diagrams, infographics, custom layouts, and other figures – upgrading basic documentation to professional deliverables that are compelling, accurate, and beautiful.
  • Technical writers think deeply about sentences and paragraphs to identify their essential meaning and purpose – and how small changes can make a big difference in improving them. At Kudu, a successful candidate will be ready to apply their knowledge about simplifying language to simplifying systems, providing feedback and identifying opportunities to improve team efficiency.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or commensurate professional experience.
  • 3 years of experience as a Technical Writer; experience in the information security, data analytics, or engineering domains preferred.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience using a range of productivity and documentation tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and GitLab.
  • A passion for learning and a positive attitude. A successful candidate will have experience working independently, managing their own schedule, and prioritizing diverse responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Benefits We Provide
  • Equity at a company that is doing dynamic, fun, meaningful, and interesting work.
  • A flexible work schedule, with the option to work remotely most days, if that’s your style.
  • Your own yearly discretionary budget to buy the things that make you happy.
  • In addition to highly competitive salaries, we offer premium healthcare options, 401k matching, and an annual pass to a swim in the bonus pool. We also offer four weeks of paid time off and 11 federal holidays to utilize whenever you want throughout the year.
  • Awesome, enthusiastic co-workers and a company culture that promotes a jerk- free environment. Rattle the windows with the company band, participate in board game or movie nights, and help balance out the scotch vs. bourbon ratio in the office.
