Knouse Foods is Hiring a Mechatronics Technician 2nd shift Near Orrtanna, PA

SUMMARY:

Responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining assigned production equipment and machine tools. Strong knowledge of industrial power, 3 Phase 480V, and industry accepted electrical safety practices for testing energized circuits. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams and illustrated parts breakdowns for troubleshooting and repairs. Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Responsible and required to act as a mentor for lesser skilled mechanics where hands on detailed training is mandatory. Must be available to work all shifts as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

1. Electro/Mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action.

2. Understand production equipment and control system requirements.

3. Proficient with Allen Bradley controls.

4. Proficient with designing & implementing AC&DC VFD’s, motors & controls.

5. Coordinate PLC & control system with mechanical design

6. Develop, debug & troubleshoot PLC, HMI and control systems.

7. Notifies maintenance department supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality/safety problems or supplies needed.

8. Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.

9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

10. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring equipment and apparatuses using hand and power tools.

11. Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with the applicable codes.

12. Completion of any other duties as assigned.

13. Writes out required paperwork for ordering of parts as required to complete project and work order-based activities. Makes recommendations in the areas of parts specifications and estimating project materials.

14. Completes assigned projects.

15. Cleans up all tools and parts after work has been completed.

16. Reports any Food Quality or Food Safety concerns to the Sup

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Knowledge/Experience:

Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Industrial Systems Technology, Industrial Mechatronics preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years mechanical or electrical experience required in lieu of a degree.

3 years of experience in a high-speed complex manufacturing environment is preferred.

3 years of prior maintenance experience is preferred.

Food manufacturing experience is a plus.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine report and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and in small groups. Ability to train others. English required.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use reasoning to efficiently diagnosis problems and find solutions.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when adjusting, calibrating, and repairing equipment and machines. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance when working on electronic systems near the ceiling.

The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds when handling electronic equipment during repairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works in high places when working on electronic systems located near the ceiling. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Continuous Improvement:

Propose and implement appropriate, timely, cost-effective corrective actions and continuous process improvements. Validate effectiveness of changes through KPI monitoring.

Work with Leads, Management and Engineers to fine tune facility for maximum efficiency.

Other:

Ability to direct and train others.

Attention to detail.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

Certified by Knouse Foods as a forklift driver. Must complete required safety training and pass written and driving tests as required.

Must complete all safety, Food Safety, Food Quality, GMP, and policy training as required.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND SAFETY GEAR:

· Employee provides hand tools used in regular daily operations.

· Uses amp meters, voltmeters and other testing devices to test electronic circuits and systems.

· Uses soldering iron, and other hand tools in making electronic repairs.

· Wears personal protective equipment as required.

· Operates forklift and scissors lift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
