SUMMARY:

Ensures Knouse Foods employee and factory safety and security by managing safety rules, regulations, inspections, audits, trends, insurance, and other plant issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains OSHA compliance by overseeing and monitoring safety manuals, safety procedures, taking tours and inspections, training supervisors, evaluating results, monitoring personal protective equipment programs, and investigating OSHA formal and informal complaints.

Manages workman’s compensation claims by installing surveillance systems, monitoring workman’s compensation budgeting and claims. Monitoring claim litigations and negotiating settlements. Attending all compensation hearing and litigations. Monitoring substance abuse programs as well as serving as a records custodian for confidential results. Also, pays bills for substance abuse claims.

Reduces on-job injuries by training outside contractors and Knouse Foods fleet on safety issues. Also, tracking trends and monitoring all treatable and non-treatable injuries.

Protects Knouse Foods interests by acting as a liaison between insurance carriers, physician groups, hospitals and Knouse Foods.

Monitors safety committees of plants by reviewing meeting minutes, ensuring plant safety, making adjustments to anything that is done incorrectly.

Performs administrative duties by issuing topics for departmental meetings, addressing employee concerns, monitoring meeting minutes, and reviewing safety committee reports.

Coordinates insurance carrier training of management and safety committees and plant tours to identify safety and OSHA concerns for correction.

Limits outside accessibility by installing camera surveillance and electronic door access. Monitors badge ID programs as well as compliance of the ID badge programs.

Ensures plant security by overseeing guard services and negotiating yearly contract for guard services.

Reacts to emergency situations by overseeing and administering emergency responses that are health and safety related. Also, coordinates critiques for major incidents such as ammonia leaks.

Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Contributes to the company effort by continually looking for ways to improve productivity and customer orientation within department by use of better technology, procedures, and use of resources.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge/skills by using the performance appraisal system to access personal strengths and development needs to accomplish the strategic goals of the organization.

Education/Knowledge/Experience:

Ø Requires knowledge that is acquired through a pertinent college degree in HR/Management or its equivalent in experience.

Ø Five years work related experience in personnel.

Ø Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ø Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workman’s compensation laws.

Ø Knowledge of office procedures, methods and computers including spreadsheet applications.

Ø Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as workman’s compensation laws and OSHA regulations.

Ø Ability to write reports and correspondence.

Ø Ability to communicate in English and understand information one-on-one and in small groups. Ability to communicate with staff members, management, and insurance companies.

Ø Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ø Ability to prioritize and be detail oriented.

Ø Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and demographic backgrounds.

Ø Ability to work under pressure and meet constant deadlines.

Ø Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
