The HR Specialist is an entry level HR position responsible for supporting the daily functions of Human Resources (HR) including general HR, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations (Payroll, Benefits and Compliance). Responsibilities will range from administrative tasks to specialized project work and reporting.

Based out of Lakewood, NJ location.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to employee relations, disciplinary matters, recruitment, payroll, benefits, reporting, and training and development.
  • Support the application of HR policies and procedures and communicate same to employees and management. Investigate complaints and maintain records in our case management system. Research and apply federal, state and local employment laws consistently and fairly across the company. Provide input to the future development of policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with respective business units and answer employee-related questions and look to provide solutions to issues.
  • Work with management to resolve employee relation issues. Conduct effective thorough and objective investigations, providing status updates and coordinate with Team on next steps.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Educate management and employees on HR processes, guidelines employee engagement, coaching and counseling improvement with performance and behavior, conflict resolution, and effective team interaction.
  • Participate in the coordination of the organization’s employee engagement, appreciation, incentive and culture-based initiatives.
  • Research, process and communicate leave of absence details (i.e., FMLA, non-FMLA, ADA, and reasonable accommodation request process).
  • Manage separation of employment and off-boarding/exit process.

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Maintain list of temporary workforce resources; place job orders with temporary agencies.
  • Utilize Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to source, review resumes, coordinate and schedule phone, video and onsite candidate interviews.
  • Assist with TA recruitment activities for large workforce planning projects.
  • Launch various tasks through Applicant Tracking System (ATS); communicate instructions and troubleshoot with new hires.
  • Data entry of information into various systems ensuring accuracy of data, management of data and running reports.

HR Operations Support

  • Assist with the bi-weekly processing of payroll (will be Payroll/Benefits Team Lead backup).
  • Provide assistance with Leave of Absense processing and general benefits administration.
  • Handle unemployment claim processing.
  • Maintain monthly updates to Org. Charts.
  • Run adhoc/monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Monthly processing of third-party Administrative bills.
  • Assist new employees in the Onboarding process by ensuring document and task completion to effectively & efficiently complete the hiring process.
  • Oversee the collection of required documents and organize them for easy retrieval including completion of electronic I-9s and E-Verify.
  • Assist with general HR/Payroll/Benefits filing.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited university or college preferred and/or one (1) to two (2) years of work experience in an HR generalist role which may include Internship experience.
  • Exposure to HR Related systems (i.e., Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Human Resource Information Systems (ADP) preferred.
  • Proven ability to provide consistently high-quality of service.
  • Previous experience with staffing agency partnerships, leave of absence administration, benefits and payroll coordination, ADA and Worker’s Compensation preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based research.
  • Ability to balance multiple and conflicting priorities to meet expected response deadlines.
  • Ability to take a “hands on” approach to supporting the business.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and manage confidential, sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to engage, inspire and influence people
