Description

Under the guidance and direction of the Chief of Staff, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for enhancing department functions by planning, implementing, and developing training, employee retention programs, employee orientation programs, and maintaining employee handbook and HR procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with the HR Team and Chief of Staff to develop and implement employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning programs.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Updates and maintains Company Handbook and provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Promotes proactive approaches using the company's HRIS to solve business needs/problems, while also enhancing the understanding and acceptance of the HRIS capabilities.
  • Analyzes and directs all function-related activities within the scope of the HRIS.
  • Assists Chief of Staff and managers with annual performance review process. 
  • Compiles data from multiple entities in preparation for annual benefit audits, renewals, and completion of employee total compensation statements.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. 
  • Complies data for annual salary survey reports for a variety of organizations and entities.
  • Assist the Chief of Staff in the daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration, EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.
  • Assist Chief of Staff with the overall administration of health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations, benefits enrollment packages/meetings, and distribution of required federal, state, local, and plan-related notices.
  • Reviews and updates HR and other employee-related forms to ensure they are current and compliant, and that all company-related entities are using current and consistent forms. 
  • Performs customer service functions by accurately answering employee requests and questions in an efficient and friendly manner.
  • Conducts record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.

  • Acts as the backup for payroll in the absence of the HR Payroll/Generalist.
  • Participates and assists with planning company events. Assists with coordinating employee meetings and group events, assists with preparing agendas, and reserving and preparing.
  • Assists with maintaining file system and files correspondence and other records as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • High school diploma required, and an Associate’s Degree and/or HR Certification preferred.
  • Five years of experience in similar HR Generalist position with electronic payroll, benefits, time, and attendance, and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient at periodic times.
  • Advanced skills of MS Office; including, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills necessary to communicate and work effectively with management and co-workers.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, develop, and communicate company policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and strong customer service skills. 
  • Ability to take initiative to complete projects, tasks, and assignments. 
  • Ability to empathize and defuse sensitive or contentious employee issues.
  • Knowledge of South Carolina and Georgia wage and hour laws preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel as needed
