Job Overview:
We are seeking an individual to join our Finance team as a Project Accountant. This multifaceted role will be responsible for overseeing the billing process, managing accounts receivable, and assisting the Controller in various financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Billing Management:
- Coordinate and oversee the billing process for all projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review project contracts, change orders, and other documentation to accurately bill clients.
- Generate and distribute invoices in accordance with contract terms and project milestones.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies and inquiries.
- Maintain organized billing records and documentation for audit purposes.
2. Accounts Receivable Management:
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Work closely with clients to resolve billing disputes and payment issues.
- Conduct regular account reconciliations and manage cash application processes.
- Provide regular updates on accounts receivable performance to the management team.
3. Other Finance Responsibilities:
- Assist the Controller in various tasks as needed.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline billing and accounts receivable processes for greater efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in construction accounting, billing, and accounts receivable management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300CRE, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
- Current Notary Public License or ability to obtain Notary License.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, billing terms, and project accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
