Description

Klein & Hoffman is seeking an architect / engineering associate with experience operating performance modeling software, specifically THERM and WUFI. The candidate will work with our team of architects and engineering professionals in our building envelope practice, including new design review, building envelope restoration, field observation and building enclosure consulting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with performance modeling software. Additional background experience in the design, evaluation, investigation and commissioning of building enclosure components and assemblies on both new and existing structures is beneficial.

Primary Responsibilities

• Building science and performance evaluation, including energy, condensation, moisture, relative humidity, and thermal analysis.
• Conduct investigation and assessments of existing building enclosure systems.
• Perform evaluation of new and existing enclosure systems.
• Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot and solve complex building system problems in a collaborative manner.

Qualifications

• Proficient performance modeling skills, including THERM and WUFI, minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Licensed Architect, Professional Engineer, or relevant industry credentials; demonstrated progress towards licensure.
• Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD (Revit is preferred but not required), Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• A team player mentality with an eagerness to take on new and challenging roles and responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry material and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform work in the temperature extremes associated with work outside.
• Able to ride suspended scaffolding and work from heights desired.
