Kenccid is recognizing its DCP’s for their extraordinary efforts during this Covid 19 crisis by providing a performance bonus recognition.
All full time DCPs currently scheduled to work and who work at least 40 hours a week, will receive a $125 bonus for each calendar week (Sunday to Saturday) in which they do not call out of any shift, and work each shift for which they are scheduled during the week.
Employees who work at least 30 hours a week (but less than 40 hours per week) will receive a $50 attendance bonus if they do not call out of any shift for which they are scheduled to work during each calendar week (Sunday through Saturday), and work all shifts for which they are scheduled during the week.
Position Summary
- Ensures that the safety and well-being of the Individuals are protected at all times and that the rights of the Individuals are observed at all times.
- Assume responsibility for Individual under your care at all times
- Guide and supervise Individuals in their daily routines and schedules as set forth in the ISP
- Oversee/monitor Individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene, and appropriate behavior in their home and community
- Ensures that Individuals are dressed appropriately for the occasion and weather conditions
- Participate in the assessment of each individuals(s) abilities, interests and need areas toward independent living.
- Provide input in the development of the Individual ISP.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure that Individuals day-to day activities shall be directed towards the attainment of outcomes set forth within each ISP
- Oversee the self-medication skills according to 6400 regulations, and when appropriate supervise in medication administration
- Supervise Individuals’ Health care, including the administration of medications and the reporting of side effects and drug interactions caused by medications.
- Contacts the Community House Manager, Nurse, or Medical professionals when necessary for appointments, including the filling of prescriptions, completion of appropriate forms, and informing other staff of changes in medical management and any follow-up needed
- Implements behavior management techniques as taught by a certified trainer or behavior therapist, when needed or applicable.
- Handle emergency situations appropriately, according to 6400 regulations and policy
- Report any Individual’s allegations of abuse and unusual incidents (physical, emotional, sexual) or act of omission based on 6400 regulations and policy.
- Perform daily record keeping both medical and routine logs
- Maintains on-site Individual and House file system, following guidelines, as outlined in regulations and policies
- Exchange information with next shift staff
- Work to build Individuals’ interpersonal and interactive skills
- Instructs and supervises individuals in the proper exercise of civil and legal rights and entitlements; including voting rights, rights to worship and to earn a living, etc.
- Ensure that Individuals are exposed to their surrounding community to allow for successful community integration
- Encourage and support the Individual’s’ membership and interaction with community recreational facilities, such as the YMCA, bowling alley, skating rink, museum, local movie theatre, etc., and monitors and participates in these activities in accordance with the Individual’s functioning level.
- Train Individuals on problem solving skills and resolving conflicts, effectively
-Recommend and expose Individuals to leisure/recreational activities (of Individual’s choice)
- Work with Community Home Manager and Program Specialist to ensure Individuals are competent in self-management skills (in health and behavior management)
- Provide opportunities for Individuals to have choices and make decisions in their daily living and their future goals by showing best available options
- Work with Community Home Manager and Program Specialist to create natural supports for Individuals from families, business partners and stakeholders
- Train Individuals on to take pride in their projects, activities and work in order to establish a sense of pride and self-esteem
- Encourage empowerment
- Conduct and document monthly fire drills according to 6400 regulations and policy
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations
- Attend Individual and inter-agency staff meetings related to Individuals
- Attend trainings and meetings as required
- Must adhere to Dress Code policy
- Maintains a professional and cooperative manner in the workplace.

Education and Experience Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s License and a minimum of two years working with people in a customer service, health/human services or business environment
· Responsible in the overall care, health, safety and supervision of Individuals in care
· Ability to read and understand English as it relates to reading medical prescriptions, directions, recipes, policies, procedures and directions for managing the daily life and activities of Individuals and a safe and healthy home
· Proven communication skills both written and verbal
· Compassionate, patient and caring work attitude
· Able to effectively multitask
· Math aptitude
· Health conscious and organized in maintaining clean, safe environment
· Demonstrated home management skills, to include, budget management, cleaning, menu preparation and nutrition and emergency steps
· Strong team player
· Physical dexterity
· Successfully complete physical examination within 12 months prior to employment and every 2 years thereafter including a Mantoux Tuberculin Test/Chest X-Ray
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift between 45 lbs and 100 lbs (over 45 lbs with assist).
· Must be able to shovel snow, climb stairs and physically adept at doing household chores such as sweeping, empting the dishwasher, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms.
· Must be able to transfer individuals to and from wheelchair.
· Must be able to walk in malls, outside, in stores, etc. to accompany individuals.
· Must be able to push and pull wheelchair up to 100 lbs.
· Must be able to bend over to assist an individual.
· Must be able to drive a car.
· Must be able to read instructions on small labels.
