Katmai is Hiring a Remote HR Assistant II - REMOTE

Job Description:


SUMMARY:

Assist and analyze a full range of human resources issues and concerns for a complex, dynamic, and changing organization to identify, consider, and resolve a variety of complex human resource-related questions in support of the Human Resources Office (HRO) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist HR Specialists and perform technical and administrative work in support of position classification, recruitment, and placement programs including merit promotion and delegated examining functions.
  • Assist with locating, reviewing, retrieving, and summarizing information from classification standards and position descriptions; preparing standard justifications and recommendations regarding classification of lower-grade positions.
  • Assist in the preparation of desk audits; finalizing position classification actions by completing position cover sheets and automated systems actions; maintaining master position description files and competitive level records.
  • Assist customers by providing a variety of general information regarding position classification functions and processes.
  • Assist in developing and issuing vacancy announcements; screening applications to determine completeness and basic eligibility; preparing certificates of qualified candidates; generating receipt acknowledgements and final action responses; performing qualifications analysis and rating on lower-grade positions as assigned.
  • Assist in conducting and/or assisting in the conduct of rating panels; coding and processing personnel actions; preparing pre-appointment packages; in-processing employees; and providing a variety of general information regarding recruitment program functions, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May provide guidance to lower-level Human Resources Assistants.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with two (2) years of HR-related experience, or six (6) years of HR-related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products (i.e. MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12.

  • Personnel transactions and processes are supported with varying degree of complexity and autonomy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks successfully.
  • Ability to handle employee-sensitive information.
  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, flexible, deadline-driven, government environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete an assignment or project.
