JPA is currently searching for a dynamic Account Director to join our collaborative and team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications strategist who can marry healthcare knowledge with agency experience, be a self-starter comfortable with rolling up their sleeves, serve as day-to-day strategy and execution lead on one or more client teams, and lead business development activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead account teams and direct day-to-day account work and projects across JPA’s Public Health portfolio (including nonprofits, foundations, associations, health systems), which may include: brief development, project planning, developing and reviewing client content, client relationship management, financial management and overall account best practices
• Direct and manage the execution of integrated communications and marketing programs and campaigns, including disease awareness/education campaigns for consumers and healthcare professionals, association member engagement, public affairs campaigns, media relations and thought leadership efforts, and corporate communications
• Work collaboratively with JPA’s in-house creative, media, web, and research teams to develop communications messages and products across channels, implement primary and secondary research, and conduct earned and paid media activations
• Evaluate and produce high-quality written content and demonstrate proficiency in all types of communications writing

• Demonstrate sound financial management, ensuring profitability of programs and projects, and ensuring team billing, staff utilization and revenue targets are met
• Support new business efforts, including leading research, strategy development and proposal writing, attending new business pitches, and nurturing organic growth opportunities
• Supervise staff, including supporting professional development and mentoring
• Act as a liaison between client, vendors and, as appropriate, other internal and external audiences (i.e., healthcare providers, coalitions, media, advocacy, medical experts, other interest groups)
• Provide significant, thoughtful client counsel based an immersive understanding of their brand, industry, competition, and marketing, interacting with senior and C-level executives
• Collaborate and partner with senior team members at JPA on client programs and agency-wide initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with 5-8 years of relevant experience leading communications projects
• Prior agency experience preferred
• Proven track record managing integrated communications and marketing campaigns reaching public health audiences and professionals as well as the general public
• Health communications experience (professional association, nonprofit, public affairs experience a plus)
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, and professional manner
• Ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and work both independently and as a team
• Understanding of public health, health equity, and the changing healthcare environment
• Detail-oriented, proven critical thinking, and a passion for public health communications
