MACHINE OPERATOR – 1ST SHIFT

Mon-Thurs 4:25pm - 2:55am

The Machine Operator tends fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punch, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties:

1. Read blueprints to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
2. Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal.
3. Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
4. Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction.
5. Verify workpieces to work instruction to ensure pieces are correct.
6. Consistently and accurately follow all work instructions, including but not limited to inputting machine programs, verifying that all workpieces are accounted for, all quality checks have been performed, and all operations are signed off on.
7. Loads finished workpieces onto pallets for next operation.

Requirements

• Ability to use a variety of hand and measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, calipers.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Possesses strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to this job
• Ability to understand and communicate in English to the extent necessary to perform all functions of the job.
• Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
