Johnny's Selected Seeds is Hiring a Human Resources Coordinator Near Fairfield, ME

Position Summary

Johnny's works as a team of employee owners and is currently seeking to hire a Human Resources Coordinator. As an employee-owner with Johnny's, you could be part of a select team focused on delivering personalized service while providing superior seeds, tools, and information.

This position reports to our Fairfield, Maine facility but will be required to travel to all three locations. (Albion, Winslow, Fairfield). This position is full-time, hourly position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide new employees with an explanation of benefits and instruct them on enrollment procedures.
  • Administrate COBRA, LOAs, FMLA usage and other issues as required by our in-house regulations and legal requirements.
  • Assist employee with enrolling in medical, dental and vision insurance plans.
  • Resolve employee issues with insurance providers and other benefits administrators
  • Assist employees in answering benefit related questions regarding all benefit lines
  • Drive the hourly and salary performance management process and document results. Advises on problem areas where development is needed.
  • Organize and assist in recruitment and staffing logistics for front line and seasonal positions
  • Coordinates, prepares, and presents employee orientation programs.
  • Maintaining employee files and the document storage system.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office
  • Assist with benefits administration and recordkeeping.
  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, accident, and incident reports.
  • File first report of injury reports and maintain records.
  • Manage FMLA and Leave program.
  • Manage aspects of safety including safety manual and policies, training records
  • Work with event coordinator and trainer to schedule mandatory safety, orientation, and development training
  • Maintains Employee Handbook with updated information as needed.
  • Receives, answers, and distributes telephone inquiries as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service behavior in all activities, both internal and external
  • Assist Human Resources Director/HR Operations Supervisor as required.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • 3 years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Associates degree preferred, two - five years of experience in an HR office preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be approachable.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Must possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a strong team player and supporter.
  • Maintain a friendly, helpful work environment.
  • A valid driver's license and transportation to be able to drive to multiple locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer up to 85% of the day
  • The ability to travel for training, HR support.
