CCOM Medicine Administration is seeking a AV Technician (IT Support Consultant) to work in collaboration with HCIS, ITS, and CCOM Operations team supporting enterprise AV implementation and operational support of AV systems and related technologies.Coordination with multiple departments and AV contractors during project implementation and provide daily support of installed systems.AV systems include Conference and Meeting rooms, Event Spaces, Digital Signage, Audio systemsandothersupportedAVsystems.Thispositionwillalsoneedabasicunderstandingofvariousteaching technologiesusedinourspaces;learningmanagementsystems,studentsresponse,lecturecapture,andonlinemeetingapplications.

Duties to include:

IT Support Implementation and Maintenance

  • ServiceManagement–Supportsalldepartmental services.
  • Installs,tunes,andappliesmaintenancereleasestosupportedhardwareand applicationsofmoderatecomplexitytoimproveorattainsatisfactory performance.
  • DeploymentofAVsupportedsystems,coordinationofAVcontractors,and maintenance of supported systems.
  • Independentlyinstallshardwareandsoftwarerelatedtoteachingtechnologies that adheres to organizational security and licensing requirements.
  • Independently tests new software and hardware versions and configurations.
  • Provides feedback regarding compatibility, performance, and effectiveness.
  • ProvideAVsupporttoselecteventsincollegespaces.

IT Support Troubleshooting

  • Provides broad and advanced support to a variety of complex hardware and softwareissuesasassigned.Investigateandevaluatecomplexhardwareand software issues.
  • Knowswheretolocateadvancedhelpfacilitiesandtroubleshooting guides.
  • Identifiesavailableresourcesandsupportsystemsfor troubleshooting.
  • Performtroubleshootingsupportforaudiovideosystemsinlargeandsmall classrooms, conference, meeting and event spaces.

Consultation/Business Analysis

  • Providesbasic/advancedone-on-oneguidanceandconsultationtoCarverCollege of Medicine constituents.
  • CommunicatespossiblesolutionsforAVtoolstocustomers.
  • Recommendsbasicsoftwareandhardwarerequirements.
  • Providesinputandrecommendationsonorganizationalsupport procedures, guidelines,andpolicies.
  • Participatesincreatingawarenesswithintheorganizationofspecificchangesin hardware and software.
  • ProvidessomeguidanceoneffectivepedagogicalusesofAVtools.

Training

  • Providesbasicandcomplextrainingtoindividualandsmallgroupsof constituents. 
  • Provides training to peer IT staff.
  • Compilesalistofkeyissues andconsiderationswithregardstotraining delivery.
  • Classifieskeyactivitiesassociatedwithtraining delivery.
  • Gathersinformationonmajormethodsandvehiclestodelivertrainingprograms.
  • Supportsthecompliancetoqualityrequirementsandindustrystandardsfor deliveringaspecifictrainingprogram.

Documentation/ KnowledgeManagement

  • Assists/Leads with the development of service-level documentation. Maintains existingservice-leveldocumentation.Assistswiththedevelopmentofknowledge base.
  • Explainsadvanced/workingconceptsbehindeffectivetechnicaldocumentation.
  • Identifiesavailabledeliveryalternatives(e.g.paper,on-line)inlocal environment.
  • Canwriteclearandconcisedocumentation.

Project/Service Management 

  • Assist with the implementation of approved projects, providing project support and services. 
  • May manage small projects or one or more phases of larger projects.

Leadership/Supervision

  • Participatesintheplanningprocessfordevelopingoperatingprocedures, guidelines, and policies.
  • Mayprovidefunctionaland/oradministrativesupervision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Abachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of educationandrelatedtechnicalexperienceinaudiovisualorinstructionalsupport may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
  • Experience, one year providingtechnologysupportinaninformation technology/educational environment.
  • ExperienceinstallingandsupportingAVdevices.
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, or similar AVequipment.
  • Stronginterpersonal,verbalandwrittencommunicationskills;theabilitytoexplain computing concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Abilitytooccasionallymoveandtransportequipmentupto50lbs.
  • Provenrecordofproblemsolvingskills.
  • WorkingproficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeSuite/O365.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • ExperiencewithAVcontrolprogramsandcontrolinterfaces.
  • Workingexperiencesupportingtechnologyinahighereducationalsetting.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoquicklylearnandadapttonewtechnologies.
  • Certifications: Infocomm CTS, Infocomm CTS-I or other industrycertifications.
  • Knowledge of Construction Project management; understanding of construction drawings,documentation,andchangeorderprocesses,specificallyrelatingtoDivision 27.
  • Workingexperienceevaluatingnewandemergingtechnologiesandtheirpotential applications specific to teaching and learning.
  • ExperienceworkinginaServiceCallCenterwithanelectronicticketingsystem.
