Role Title: Staff Accountant
Summary Brief:
Wave Sports Entertainment is a media company built for the next generation of digital super fans. Through a portfolio of over 30 media brands, original content, talent, and a suite of products and services, WSE reaches more than 500M Gen Z and Millennial sports fans on a monthly basis. Our original digital series include New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce and Podcast P with Paul George with more shows launching at the start of this year's Football and Basketball seasons. Our core content is consistently ranked as the most highly engaged across Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube where over 120 million followers engage with our brands.
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join WSE to assist with our current accounting processes. This individual will work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and VP of Finance along with the Operations team. This role will require the ability to stay organized while handling a wide variety of company processes, problem-solving, and strong communication skills. We want someone who is driven and eager to learn to help improve and complete the current accounting tasks. The position requires 2 days per week in the office in Santa Monica, CA, and is not eligible for full-time remote work.
Core Responsibilities

• Partner with the Sales team to own accounts receivable from processing invoices through payment collection
• Assist during month end close including but not limited to preparing journal entries, categorizing credit card expenses, importing bank transactions, bank reconciliations, prepaid and fixed asset schedules, etc.
• Support finance team with budget to actuals reporting to leadership team on a monthly basis
• Own management of company softwares including logins, billings and user management along with managing costs
• Help manage company credit cards and expense reimbursement along with owning team purchases
• Support build up of show level P&Ls including New Heights, Podcast P, and 7PM in Brooklyn
• Support Ad Hoc Projects supporting both internal and external financial reporting and analysis including but not limited to WSE Original Shows including New Heights, 7PM in Brooklyn, and Podcast P, Network & Editorial, etc.

Qualifications

• 1 years of relevant experience and/or training in public, private or start-up company
• Preferred: 1-2 years of GL accounting experience with knowledge of preparing journal entries and performing month-end procedures
• Public accounting experience is a plus
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
• Experience with multiple financial systems including Quickbooks online, Brex, Expensify, Bill.com etc.
• The ability to operate independently and efficiently
• You have a gritty & entrepreneurial attitude, and don't shy away from things you don't know
• Willing to think against the grain and find innovative solutions for a fast growing company
• Passion for sports and digital media

Physical Requirements

• Capacity to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery and computer/printer
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
• Work is sedentary and involves sitting most of the time.
• Able to work full time M-F and nights and weekends as needed.
• Hybrid work schedule with 2 days per week in the office in Santa Monica, CA.

Work Environment

• The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and work is performed in a business office environment.
• The worker may be exposed to variable lighting conditions (brightness or darkness) and noise during productions when in office.

This role is a full-time position with a base salary range of $65,000-$75,000/year, and may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity. We believe in investing the very best in our employees, so in addition to the base salary for this role, all full-time employees at WSE receive:
