Title: Senior Accountant
Location: 100% REMOTE | Must be local to Los Angeles, CA 90057
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000

Job Details

• Lead and supervise team in managing all cash disbursement activities, including accounts payable and payroll.
• Prepare accurate monthly reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and conduct monthly bank reconciliation.
• Assist the controller in various tasks such as monthly allocation of payroll and expenditures for restricted grants, as well as preparing financial statements and mandated reports for state and federal agencies.
• Manage and assist in preparing schedules for annual audits and oversight visits.
• Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist on payroll functions, ensuring compliance with payroll laws and best practices.
• Ensure timely submission of monthly STRS and PERS reports and stay updated on compliance requirements.
• Review payroll registers for accuracy and manage Fixed Assets capitalization and depreciation schedules.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 or more years experience in a senior accountant role in nonprofit/education sectors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and accounting software.
• Software: MIP or Sage Intacct
• Ability to simplify complex financial matters and communicate effectively.
• Professionalism, maturity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Enthusiastic commitment to educational equity and proactive problem-solving skills.
