The Infection Preventionist (IP) manager will report directly to the IP Drirector. They are responsible for managing the education and orientation of the new Infection Preventionists and ensuring the overall department is updated regularly on the NHSN, CDC, APIC and PADOH requirements and regulations. They will manage the surveillance reporting, answer IP related surveillance questions and also perform surveillance as needed/ determined by the IP director. The IP manager will act as a liason between the IP team and the IP director on the daily activities of the department.

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson

2. Manages the education and orientation of all new infection preventionists to the IP program and provides necessary training and guidance on all surveillance and reporting as related to NHSN, APIC and PA DOH Act 52.

3. Serves as an educational resource to the entire IP team on NHSN defintions, surveillance and reporting to ensure compliance with PA DOH Act 52. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Ability to implement evidence-based guidelines, conflict resolution, and demonstrate expertise in data collection, analysis , report writing and data presentation. Proven ability to easily navigate through an electronic medical record.

4. Manages the daily operations of the department in coordination with the IP director.

5. Consults with hospital staff to provide infection control recommendations for specific patients based on their disease process and mode of transmission in order to ensure the use of appropriate precautions. Communicates changes in infection control or related practices to appropriate staff to facilitate consistent practice.

6. Serve on selected hospital committees to act as a resource for infection control related information to facilitate communication and make recommendations and provide updates to the Infection Control Committee.

7. Identifies and reports hospital associated infections to ensure compliance with state requirements as outlined in PA Act 52. Monitors and implements measures to maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies (CMS, TJC, PA DOH). 10. Performs other duties as assigned.

8. Collaborates with local and state Department of Health (DOH) on public health initiatives and issues affecting our surrounding communities.

Baccalaureate degree in nursing (Active nursing license required), public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field required, Masters preferred.

Active CIC Certification by the CBIC required.

3-4 years of infection prevention experiene is required. Previous experience managing a team is preferred . Experience with EPIC preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field required, Masters preferred.
