J5 Consulting is a Maryland based company established in 2006 to provide computing and consulting services for government and commercial entities. Job Overview:

This position is part of a team that will provide operations and maintenance (O&M), systems engineering, and software development for a custom system. This role will provide support for program management, system maintenance and troubleshooting for software and hardware components to maintain sustainability and reliability of the Customer’s systems and applications.

This position will:

  • Provide software development support and maintenance for the Customers operational system, which resides in cross-domain enclaves with connections to multiple internal and external systems and leverages open source technologies and a micro-services architecture to provide enterprise capabilities that are extensible and resilient.
  • Support the continuing development, engineering, testing, training, and systems administration necessary for the evolution of the Customer’s system.
  • Interface with users and stakeholders to capture requirements and enhancements for the Customers system. 
  • Document and maintain all interfaces with external systems in Interface Control Documents (ICD).
  • Use Agile processes to conduct all Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and development activities.
  • Develop the project roadmap and manage the sprint and release management process. 
  • Document and track user stories and prioritized issues and enhancements for the backlog in the tracking database.
  • Conduct security accreditation for the program applications. 
  • Comply with the Customer’s Risk Management Framework to ensure the program addresses and mitigates vulnerabilities and risk identified throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Develop and maintain the current micro-services architecture, which is built in Java with a UI in Ruby in ExtJS, communications using REST over HTTPS, messaging through ActiveMQ, SFTP, and SOAP interfaces.
  • Complete a software release for deployment at the end of each sprint, where the current sprint cycle is every three weeks.
  • Continuously test and develop by releasing incremental versions of the software at the end of each sprint to the Quality Assurance (QA) tester(s).
  • Maintain the virtualized infrastructure and hypervisors, Linux servers, and storage devices to include administration, patching, and certificates. 
  • Perform the Customer’s security vulnerability scans.
  • Perform transferring of data services.
  • As needed, update training materials and conduct training. Training includes formal classroom, one-on-one, and online remote.
  • Migrate the system to the Customers cloud environment and achieving re-accreditation in that environment.

Required skills and demonstrated experience:

  • Demonstrated experience using Agile methodologies and DevOps automation to support a complex mission application.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting an operational system built on micro-services architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a cross-government system providing end-to-end communications.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux operating system.
  • Demonstrated experience with OS system builds and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with building and maintaining secure enclaves on networks.
  • Demonstrated experience with network concepts and protocols.

Highly desired skills and demonstrated experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform and Packer.
  • Demonstrated experience with building and maintaining secure enclaves on the Customer’s AMP networks.
  • Demonstrated experience with the specific Customer AMP Program. 
  • Demonstrated experience with the stakeholders and key interfaces of the Customers AMP program.
  • Demonstrated experience with the architecture and contextual and historical reasons driving the architecture for the Customers AMP program.

US Citizenship:

  • This position requires US Citizenship. Verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements will be confirmed.

Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Travel:

  • This position is expected to be onsite. The position will be located within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA). 
  • Local travel/POV will be on an as needed basis, within the local place of performance.
