We are seeking a Part-time Consultant to join our Forensic Architecture and Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the Charlotte, NC team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional Engineering Consultants. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of Engineering, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Part-time Consultant to enhance our already robust team of professionals supporting our clients throughout the US. Our licensed engineers routinely conductseismic risk evaluations/assessments, perform forensic investigations,provide consultation,prepare and deliver technical papers; andserve as expert witnesses. Entry-level engineers assist our licensed engineers for the various types of projects. Our areas of practice include residential, commercial and industrial buildings’ gravity and lateral force-resisting systems evaluation and retrofit, foundations and envelopes; hazard assessments and resulting damage and repair design; design and construction defect evaluation; and premise liability evaluations. Assignments will potentially require some travel. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares reports detailing observations made, testing results, research conducted, and opinions or recommendations
  • Conducts field observations, testing and data collection, as needed.
  • Works with building departments to review repair directives and provide submittal support
  • Conducts research 
  • Meets with and presents to peers and clients

Required Qualifications:

  • Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Structural, or the like). 
  • Interest in obtaining Professional Engineering (PE) License in the future.
  • Experience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • A desire to learn, excel and grow with us and within the profession

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with structural building drawings preparation or structural design and seismic structural analysis (optional)
  • Experience in construction (optional)
