Sr Project Manager
Salary Range: $140,000-$150,000
Compass Technology Group is a woman and veteran owned small business focused on developing innovative electromagnetic measurement devices. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join our team. The Sr Project Manager at CTG would ideally have a RF background. This role performs hands-on customer-facing full life-cycle project management for manufactured devices. Their work is instrumental in the development of products, custom applications, and customer deliverables. Their project responsibilities are related to equipment for microwave characterization of materials and components. The Sr Project Manager is expected to understand contract scope and company capabilities to ensure that requirements are met within scope, time, budget, and contractual compliance specifications. This role works cross-functionally with the Procurement, Engineering/Lab, Production and Software teams to fully integrate the various components into an operational state-of-the-art end product. The ideal candidate will have mastery in communication, both written and oral, to present during status meetings and update internal and external business partners. They will display a calm and collected disposition under pressure and professionally manage and mitigate barriers to project completion. The Sr Project Manager should have good attention to detail, critical thinking / problem solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills. They are responsible for overseeing technology development projects in NDE (nondestructive evaluation) including microwave and other sensor applications using robotic systems. Also responsible for supervising engineers and working with other senior engineering and software development personnel on a variety of product development efforts. This role requires the individual to be a high performing Supervisor as well as an Individual Contributor.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: 40%
Own the oversight and successful delivery of all assigned projects. Be an active participant in engineering development and ideation that leads to final deliverables. Utilize internal project management tracking systems to record progress, monitor budget and labor hours and provide information to engineers that support the project efforts. Interact with customers, prioritize & keep project schedule, coordinate cross-team efforts (e.g. software, mechanical, and electrical engineers). Maintain technical accuracy of work and check the work of others. Coordinate activities with other units within the company. Confer with Chief Scientist and CEO.
ENGINEERING/MANUFACTURING: 20%
Oversee engineering and manufacturing of components and the system used in the delivered products. This role requires some understanding of the underlying concepts and technology used, including hardware and software. Furthermore, the systems will require integration into customer workflows, so this role also requires understanding of customer processes and needs, and how the produced equipment fulfills those needs, including implications of various design choices on ultimate performance and functionality.
CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT: 20%
Expand the customer base by developing both existing and new government and industry customers. Customer development requires excellent interpersonal skills so that customer needs can be understood and matched with project requirements. The expected effort includes introduction of new technology into customer work-flows, which requires an ability to navigate technical, logistical, and political hurdles particular to each customer.
TECHNICAL WRITING: 10%
Write status updates for client and internal team. Compose PowerPoint presentations and facilitate periodic meetings internally and externally. Enter project updates and other data within our internal systems accurately and timely. Participate in the technical writing on SBIR and other proposals and contracts. Independently compose writings and collaborate on developing or revising standard operating procedures for various aspects of the work and help to maintain our Quality Management System.
DIRECT REPORTS: 10%
Supervise and lead engineers, scientists, and technicians who design or build equipment for electromagnetic measurements. Train and mentor other engineers and supporting staff. Report and approve timesheets, perform performance reviews and other performance management activities. Resolve team issues along with leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in business or engineering/ physics
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific field,
6 years hands-on engineering project management experience. (Mid-career level)
Resourceful and excellent at troubleshooting. Analytical and able to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Familiar with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
Able to mitigate risks associated with electrical and chemical hazards.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder (government contractor requirement)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Work in a business office space that includes a lab and production environment.
Adhere to all safety and regulatory protocols.
