Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking an Associate Director who will be responsible for leading the Iridium 3GPP team in developing cutting edge technical solutions for its portfolio of 3GPP services. As manager, you will oversee all aspects of the team. You will be responsible for providing technically feasible solutions for the assigned projects, ensuring the projects utilize common SE process, implementing SAFe®/AGILE practices and working closely with other program managers and segment leads. What You’ll Do:

• Foster and develop a highly effective team of engineers to facilitate team activities and projects
• Lead efforts of multiple simultaneous objectives that span several functions
• Develop and maintain the team’s overall budget, goals, and schedules, ensuring adherence
• Design and lead the development of services that interact with Iridium ecosphere
• Ensure that the team serves as the technical authority on its assigned projects
• Oversee generation, analysis and decomposition of system requirements, capabilities, features and user stories
• Ensure proper co-ordination is implemented between projects with an emphasis on finding common engineering solutions where applicable
• Lead team in the practice and implementation of SAFe®/AGILE practices
• Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and managing conflict when necessary
• Identify current staffing needs and secure appropriate resources which will allow for the expansion of team capabilities

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
• 12 years of relevant experience in the Satellite industry
• Experience leading test and analysis activities of complex communications and/or space-based systems
• Experience developing and maintaining schedules
• Experience in coordinating software develop activities
• Previous management experience
• Expertise with the Microsoft Windows and Office product suite
• A strong knowledge of satellite systems
• A strong knowledge of both SAFe®/Agile processes

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

• Familiarity with Atlassian Tools
• Master’s degree in engineering

We’ll Also Need You To:

• Willing and able to travel up to 25 %
• Due to ITAR, US Citizenship is required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
