Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. One aspect of the IRC is to assist refugees with resettlement and integration in the United States. The IRC opened a Denver office in 2016 to provide reception and placement services to newly arrived refugees. The office is slated to resettle approximately 250 refugees per year and provide program services that assist refugees for up to five years following their arrival in the U.S. IRC in Denver’s service approach is client-centered, empowerment-focused, trauma-informed and multigenerational.

Job Summary

The primary role of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision to the Health and Wellness department staff and interns. This position will review client goals, conduct regular case consultation meetings for the mental health teams (Family Stabilization, MHPSS and clinical Survivors of Torture teams), and provide clinical input to the Sr. Health & Wellness Manager.

This role is also responsible for program supervision and coordination of the Family Stabilization Program (FSP). The FSP is housed at IRC in Denver and supports ORR-eligible clients from the IRC, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains and the African Community Center.The program addresses needs among specific categories of clients as defined under the REACH Program by the Colorado Refugee Services Program (CRSP). The FSP provides intensive services that address threats to safety and daily functioning for these clients, including those who are survivors of domestic violence, live with severe and persistent mental illness, present with child welfare or elder abuse concerns, deal with substance abuse, experience suicide ideation, and/or identify to a group facing discrimination.

This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including onboarding, supervising and consulting with clinically trained staff and interns, guiding and overseeing implementation and improvement of service planning, ensuring routine monitoring of services and quality, integrating evaluation practices and related tools including client feedback mechanisms, engaging in capacity building efforts as needed to support access to high quality services, facilitating supervision and growth opportunities for staff and interns, and promoting a positive working environment and strong professional development opportunities for the clinically trained members and interns of the Health and Wellness department.

Major Responsibilities:

Staff supervision

• Provides clinical supervision and emergency support and consultation for mental health service staff within the Health and Wellness department.
• Directly supervises Family Stabilization Specialists, including reviewing client plans, case termination, and assigning or reassigning staff caseloads.
• Manage practicum and other intern placements, taking responsibility for developing and implementing a program of onboarding, supervision, and ongoing growth supports for Family Stabilization interns.
• Acts as a clinical focal point for IRC in Denver office staff.
• Ensures appropriate staff-to-client ratios in alignment with field standards.
• Ensures mental health staff are trained in core competencies to deliver quality work, and designs and delivers trainings to build capacity, with understanding of and adherence to crisis protocols.
• Ensure compliance with related federal, state, and local licensing regulations.
• Review and be familiar with Colorado statues and rules regularly and comply with the requirements and laws.
• Ensure clinical services meet the standards of cultural competence and linguistic appropriateness.
• Supports exchange of ideas, encourages camaraderie and collaboration, and fosters professional development.

Program supervision

• Provide training to student interns and non-clinical staff regarding services, programs, and guidelines.
• Participate in the creation or revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, goals, and objectives.
• Assist with grant compliance, data tracking, budget tracking, and grant reporting.
• Assist with program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities.
• Ensure monitoring/audit of documents, records and tracking tools for program case files and reporting.
• Design and implement strategies for expanded program capacity both internally and through external partnerships.
• Track budgets, program expenditures and activities for the Family Stabilization program, ensure donor deliverables are met, compile data and draft reports as required by donor and agency specifications.
• Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engages as a member of the department.
• Participate in meetings and ensure strong collaboration with all IRC departments, both locally and networkwide.
• Liaise with community partners in support of clients and program objectives.
• Attend meetings with CRSP and other donors as requested.
• Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols, including Safeguarding and the IRC Way.

Position indirectly supervises (clinical supervision): MHPSS and Survivor Wellness Center clinical staff

Job Requirements:

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, or counseling.

Certificates or Licenses:

• Valid independent clinical license from the Colorado State Board of Professional Counselor Examiners (Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and preferably Approved Clinical Supervisor).
• Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy and access to reliable transportation.

Work Experience:

• 3 years of post-license experience as a behavioral health/mental health clinician providing clinical and/or case management services.
• Previous experience in supervisory role overseeing both clinical staff and program implementation.
• Experience working with a full range of psychological disorders and providing trauma treatment preferred.
• Experience working with forcibly displaced populations (refugees, asylum seekers, torture survivors, and survivors of human-trafficking, foreign nationals or other vulnerable populations).
• Experience working effectively with service partners, colleagues, and clients in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams.
• Demonstrates skills in clinical diagnosis, mandatory reporting, suicide assessment, safety planning, validated measures, and clinical charting.
• Strong understanding of the systems that intersect with migration and resettlement.
• Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
• Communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Digital literacy, data base experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and be a flexible teammate.

Language Skills:

Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Bilingual ability preferred.

Working Environment:

• A combination of standard office environment and remote work (an exception may be made for fully remote and monthly or bi-monthly work in the at the office location).

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, regular position classified as exempt and ineligible for overtime under state and federal law. Compensation range is $66,500-$76,383/ annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
