About the Role

We seek a skilled Sr. Technical Systems Engineer with 3 – 5 years of experience in IT, particularly within an MSP or corporate helpdesk setting. The role involves high-level consulting, system and network troubleshooting, and robust interaction with both internal teams and clients. Daily activities include a wide variety of tasks with varying levels of complexity.

This is not a remote position.

Additionally, because this position interacts directly with clients, you must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of client’s privileged information. You must also be able to work independently and utilize good judgment as the decisions you make will affect the operations of the company and of our clients. Many of our clients will view you as an advisor/consultant/representative for the company’s products and services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with clients, often on-site (within the KC metro area).
  • Engage in all phases of client projects: presales, planning, implementation, and escalated post-sales support.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across Windows environments, networking, and associated technologies.
  • Configuration of new and existing network environments – servers, firewalls, switches, routers, and WAPs
  • Monitor, configure and maintain network data backups and integrity to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Maintain and upgrade system and network installations and configurations.
  • Communicate progress and issues to management and clients regularly.
  • Manage tickets and deliver timely solutions, ensuring high-levels of client satisfaction.
  • Escalation point for complex system issues
  • Although this is not the “norm”, be able to operate outside of standard business hours as required for project needs and client support as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant IT experience(ideally in an MSP environment)
  • Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with network protocols, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Virtualized Servers on premise and Cloud.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, TCP/IP, routing and VLANS
  • Experience configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, firewalls and VPN
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 Administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with helpdesk and remote support tools, preferably ConnectWise.
  • Organization and the ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks with shifting priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all time.
  • Ability to handle stress well and work quickly to meet clients’ up-time requirements.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain reliable transportation.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Willing to periodically work after-hours and/or weekends for on-call rotation.
