Institute for Educational Advancement is Hiring an Assistant Program Coordinator Near Pasadena, CA

The Institute for Educational Advancement (IEA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our nation’s most advanced learners in identifying and developing their full intellectual and personal potential.
IEA is seeking an assistant program coordinator to work with the program staff to support the development and implementation of quality supplemental programs for gifted elementary, middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds.
The ideal candidate is confident, detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, is an experienced educator, capable of problem solving in a work environment, and is able to focus on the big picture. He or she is a self-motivated individual who enjoys being part of a team, is interested in working with gifted students and their families and is committed to the long-term success of IEA’s program goals and constituents.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Belief in and work towards actualizing the mission of IEA;
  • Assist with the coordination, development and implementation of in-person and online year-round K-8 academic enrichment programs for gifted youth;
  • Work with administrative staff and teachers to purchase class supplies and keep them organized for daily use;
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents and students and provide timely communication with parents and teachers;
  • Support the recruitment of qualified students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Support outreach to schools and organizations to develop partnerships;
  • Utilize IEA’s online software to facilitate the student application and enrollment process;
  • Support the planning and implementation of other programs, including summer residential camps, as needed.
The successful applicant will possess the following characteristics, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Three years’ experience working with children in an educational setting; focus on science or experience in a camp setting is a plus
  • Understanding of various educational options for students; experience working with gifted children preferred;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office;
  • Comfortable utilizing new technology, including online educational platforms;
  • Team player with the ability to multitask when needed;
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible under changing circumstances;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Creative problem-solver;
  • Passionate and interested in gifted education.
