This position involves the use of planning skills and expertise in both independent and team settings. Responsibilities will focus on development project review, although cross-training and other responsibilities may involve a variety of planning tasks. This is a fully trained professional position in the Planning Division.
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Planning or a closely related field from an accredited university or a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, or a closely related field from an accredited university and a minimum of 3-years of direct planning experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of planning principles and practices.
Knowledge of development review.
Knowledge of economics, municipal finance, and sociology as applied to public planning. Knowledge of and experience with ARC Info/ARC view and other widely used office software.
Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral, and graphic form.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with division heads, outside agencies, and the general public.
Ability to direct and participate in complex planning studies or elements thereof, and to analyze information and formulate substantive recommendations based upon such studies.
Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations relative to County planning.
Ability to direct work of others and present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral, or graphic form.
Ability to operate cameras/photo equipment.
Typing/keyboard skills.
