Inclusively is partnering with a social services organization to hire a Therapeutic Center Counselor.

ABOUT INCLUSIVELY:

This position is located in Brooklyn,NY and has a minimum salary of $35,000 and maximum salary of $40,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Support

  • Provide the highest quality of care and service to all guests. Maintain effective, positive, and quality operations at the center.
  • Assist guests to achieve personal goals; work on behalf of guests to overcome barriers; respect guests' personal beliefs, choices, and interests.
  • Help guests with ADL’s when necessary (eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting walking/maintaining stability)
  • Serve as role model and mentor, demonstrate desired behaviors, and coach guests using approved techniques and strategies.
  • Assist crisis de-escalation utilizing guests’ cross system crisis intervention plan.
  • Use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to protect guests.
  • Assist guests in promoting independence in areas such as: preparing meals, planning daily schedule of activities, choosing leisure time activities that will foster positive emotions.
  • Plan and Facilitate structured groups/activities focused on individual admission goals.

Medical Support

  • Provide appropriate assistance to promote health and wellness; communicate with medical professionals and record information regarding health events, conditions, and status.
  • Participate in AMAP training and become certified as an AMAP provider.
  • Administer medications according to physician instructions
  • Provide first aid/CPR and seek emergency medical care when needed

General Responsibilities

  • Gather and collect data regarding individual guest presentation and share observations/impressions with clinical team.
  • Complete assigned documentation as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of program
  • Drive company vehicle to transport guests to activities
  • Act in a professional manner and communicate effectively with others

Complete training programs, attend required meetings and follow all policies and procedures of the CSIDD Resource

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals with IDD and/or behavioral health needs

OR

  • Associates degree in human services related field preferred and
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals with IDD and/or behavioral health needs.

OR

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years experience working with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs.

Ability to provide counseling and deescalate a crisis situation to the men and women supported

Represents the organization in a positive and appropriate manner to outside resources.

Supports the mission and values of the company and START model of care that is consistent with core values.

Ability to work effectively/ positively with persons supported, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
